Where do I find my driver at Miami International Airport?
Ground transportation at MIA is on the first (arrivals) level, outside baggage claim. Your chauffeur tracks your flight, messages you when the car is positioned and meets you on that level, or inside the terminal if you add a name board. Your confirmation gives the current door and zone for your concourse.
The airport's own pages are worth reading before you travel, with one warning. They describe taxis and ride apps at length. The page on ground transportation does not describe a limousine or private-car procedure, and the only pre-arranged service it lists is cruise-line transportation. So a MIA chauffeur pickup is arranged between the driver, the operator and the passenger. It is not a published public procedure with a signed lane. That is a good reason to book with a team that confirms the meeting point in writing.
LimousineWorldwideDirectory.com is that team. Our 24/7 booking desk confirms the booking, a vetted, licensed and commercially insured local operator from our worldwide directory drives it, and you receive one confirmation and one invoice.
MIA terminals and the arrivals routing
MIA is a long, linear airport with a north, central and south terminal. The airport's own pages list the concourse letters: North Terminal D, Central Terminal E (with F and G), and South Terminal H and J. A few details matter to a driver.

- Immigration and customs are in the concourses D, E and J. If you land at Concourse F, a courtesy trolley takes you to the Concourse D International Arrivals Facility.
- After customs, North Terminal D and Central Terminal E exit to the first level, while South Terminal J exits to the third level. Ground transportation is on the first level, so passengers from J take the lift down. This is the most common reason a Concourse J passenger and a driver miss each other, and it is why we tell you the level, not just the door.
- Hotel shuttle buses use curbside zones on Arrivals Level 1 at several doors, according to the airport. Our chauffeurs do not use those zones.
Because airlines move between concourses, we confirm your concourse from the flight number and put it in the booking confirmation.
Customs, immigration and waiting time
Passengers arriving from other countries clear passport control and customs before entering the United States, as the airport's international arrivals page explains, and arrivals are inspected by U.S. Customs and Border Protection. Passengers who have already been cleared through preclearance at certain foreign airports are not cleared again. MIA does not publish average processing times, and large long-haul and Latin American banks can bring a long line at peak hours.
- International arrivals: 60 minutes of free waiting after landing are included.
- Domestic arrivals: 30 minutes of free waiting after landing are included.
- Mobile Passport Control is listed by U.S. Customs and Border Protection for Miami International for eligible travelers.
- Baggage: if you are connecting from an international flight to a U.S. destination, the airport says to claim your bags before clearing customs. Confirm with your airline whether the bags were checked through.
Tell the driver if you are held. The flight tracker already knows the landing time, and the desk adjusts the wait.
Taxi, ride app and chauffeur: the facts
The airport page on taxis and ride apps lists metered fares as of 2026: $2.95 for the first one-sixth of a mile, $0.85 for each additional one-sixth up to one mile, $0.55 for each additional one-sixth after that, and $0.40 per minute of waiting. A minimum fare of $15 applies to trips from MIA, plus a $2.00 airport origination fee, and SUVs and vans can add 30 percent above the meter. Ride-app pickups are on both the arrivals (first) level and the departures (second) level, and the page says to check the app for the designated door.
These are third-party prices from the airport and not ours. For the chauffeur fare, the online booker shows the exact fixed fare for your addresses and vehicle before you confirm.
Drive times from MIA
Miami's geography is simple but its traffic is not. I-95, the Dolphin Expressway (SR 836), the Airport Expressway and the causeways to Miami Beach are the main arteries. A closure or a cruise-ship day can change the picture.

| From MIA to | Distance | Typical drive time |
|---|---|---|
| Coral Gables | about 8 km (5 mi) | 15 to 35 minutes |
| Downtown Miami and Brickell | about 11 km (7 mi) | 15 to 40 minutes |
| PortMiami | about 14 km (9 mi) | 20 to 45 minutes |
| Wynwood | about 10 km (6 mi) | 15 to 40 minutes |
| South Beach | about 19 km (12 mi) | 25 to 60 minutes |
| Fort Lauderdale airport (FLL) | about 45 km (28 mi) | 35 to 80 minutes |
| Palm Beach | about 113 km (70 mi) | 1 hour 15 minutes to 2 hours 15 minutes |
| Everglades National Park (Homestead entrance) | about 55 km (34 mi) | 45 to 75 minutes |
| Key West | about 265 km (165 mi) | 3 hours 30 minutes to 5 hours |
PortMiami is about 9 miles from the airport, according to MIA's own page. Weekday rush hours, Friday afternoon and the Saturday cruise turnaround are the slowest times. Early mornings and late nights are fast.
MIA compared with rail, bus and taxi
Miami has real public transport options at the airport, and for a solo traveler with a small bag one of them is the best value. The public transportation page lists Metrorail's Orange Line at the Miami Intermodal Center station at $2.25 each way (as of 2026), a Miami Beach bus every 30 minutes from 6 a.m. to 11:40 p.m., and Metrobus routes. The airport's home page carries an alert that Metrorail riders must transfer at Earlington Heights for the Orange Line to MIA, so check it on the day. The MIA Mover runs from the third level to the Rental Car Center and connects to Tri-Rail and the City of Miami Trolley.
| Option | Typical time to Brickell or Downtown | Cost note | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Metrorail Orange Line | 25 to 45 minutes | lowest | solo travelers, light bags |
| Brightline airport connector to MiamiCentral | connector plus train; check the schedule | low | travelers going up the coast |
| Taxi | 15 to 40 minutes | metered plus airport fee | one or two passengers |
| Ride app | 15 to 40 minutes | surge-priced at peaks | short notice |
| Private chauffeur | 15 to 40 minutes | fixed fare via the booker | groups, South Beach, cruise connections, late arrivals |
Brightline, the intercity train between Miami and West Palm Beach, has airport connector stops at Concourses D, E and H on Level 2. The airport lists weekday hours of 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. and weekend hours of 8 a.m. to midnight. If you are travelling to Palm Beach County for a week, a train plus a car at the other end is a sensible plan. If your hotel is in South Beach and your bags are heavy, a chauffeur is simpler.
Cruise day at MIA and PortMiami
Miami is the busiest place in this guide for cruise connections. MIA lists pre-arranged cruise-line transportation at the North bus station in Concourse D, Level 1, Door 1, and at the South bus station in Concourse J, Level 1, Door 33. That is for passengers who have bought the cruise line's transfer. If you prefer a private car, we take you to the cruise terminal, about 14 km (9 mi) from the airport, with the vehicle positioned in the terminal's drop-off zone and your luggage handed to porters.
Read our PortMiami page for terminal logistics and Port Everglades, about 45 km (28 mi) north, for sailings from Fort Lauderdale. Our cruise transfers page covers hotel stays before embarkation. Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International is also an option for arrivals, see Fort Lauderdale (FLL).

Discretion and corporate bookings
Chauffeurs do not photograph clients or post about trips, NDAs are signed on request and alias bookings are available. Miami draws high-profile travelers, and a name-board service with an alias is common. We are a chauffeur service, not a security company: no armed drivers or bodyguards, and we work alongside a client's own security team. Corporate accounts with monthly invoicing and trade accounts for travel agents, DMCs and hotel concierges are available. Official tourist offices, tourism boards, convention and visitor bureaus and visitor centres can book chauffeur services for their visitors with LimousineWorldwideDirectory.com through a trade account. See our meet and greet service, the airports hub and the North America directory.
Cancellations
More than 72 hours' notice: no charge. 72 hours or less: 10%. 48 hours or less: 50%. 24 hours or less, or no-show: 100%, measured from the scheduled pickup time. A delayed flight moves the pickup and is not a no-show.
Frequently asked questions
Where does my chauffeur meet me at MIA?
On the first (arrivals) level, where the airport locates ground transportation, or inside the terminal if you add the name-board service. Your confirmation gives the current door and zone for your concourse.
Why is my driver on a different level at Concourse J?
According to the airport, passengers exiting customs at South Terminal J emerge on the third level, while ground transportation is on the first. Your driver will tell you where to take the lift.
How far is MIA from South Beach and PortMiami?
South Beach is about 19 km (12 mi), 25 to 60 minutes. PortMiami is about 14 km (9 mi), 20 to 45 minutes.
Is there a limousine page on the airport website?
The airport's ground transportation and taxi pages do not describe a limousine procedure. Taxis and ride apps are described, and the only pre-arranged service listed is cruise-line transport. We therefore confirm the meeting point with you in writing.
How long will you wait after my flight lands?
International arrivals include 60 minutes of free waiting after landing and domestic arrivals 30 minutes. Flight tracking adjusts the pickup if the aircraft is early or late.
Is a taxi better value than a chauffeur from Miami airport?
A taxi is metered, with a published minimum fare plus an airport origination fee, and can be good value for one or two passengers. A chauffeur booking has a fixed fare quoted before you book. Check the exact fare in the online booker.
Can you drive me to Port Everglades or Fort Lauderdale?
Yes. Port Everglades is about 45 km (28 mi) from MIA, and Fort Lauderdale airport about the same. The booker gives a fixed fare for each.
