CES car service: what changes when the show comes to town
Every January the Consumer Technology Association fills Las Vegas with exhibitors, buyers, investors and press, and the city's road network absorbs the load badly. A trip that is quick on an ordinary week can take several times as long at the start and end of a show day. A CES car service exists to take that uncertainty out of the schedule: a named chauffeur, a vehicle waiting at the right door, and a fare you saw before you booked.
LimousineWorldwideDirectory.com runs a 24/7 booking desk. Each CES ride is delivered by a vetted, licensed and commercially insured local chauffeur operator from our worldwide directory, and the desk books, confirms and invoices it, so a team of twelve arriving from four continents deals with one confirmation and one invoice. The guide below covers the dates, the venues, the loading rules that matter and how to plan the week.
What is the best CES transportation in Las Vegas?

For executives and small teams, a pre-booked CES chauffeur service is the most predictable choice: the driver tracks your flight, meets you at Harry Reid International, and drops you at an approved entrance. Official CES shuttles and the Monorail are good, free or low-cost options for attendees with flexible timing.
That is the honest summary. The show's own shuttle network is useful, and the sections below say where it works well. A private car earns its place when your day has fixed times: a 7:30 breakfast meeting at a Strip hotel, a keynote at the Convention Center, a client dinner in Summerlin. It also earns it when you are moving a delegation with bags, or a person who should not queue.
CES 2027 dates and the places the show uses
According to the official CES site, CES 2027 runs from 6 to 9 January 2027 in Las Vegas, with CES Unveiled Las Vegas on Monday 4 January 2027. The core venues are the Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC), at 3150 Paradise Road, and the Venetian Expo, with additional exhibits, suites and sessions in resort hotels along the Strip. Hospitality suites at the Venetian and Palazzo are being prepared from Monday 4 January (the CES 2027 exhibitor guide for those suites says AV set-up cannot start before 3 pm that day), so private meetings begin before the show floor opens.
The geography matters for transport. The LVCC sits east of the Strip on Paradise Road. The Venetian Expo is on the Strip itself. The two are linked by an official shuttle (Tech Express, Route 9) because the Las Vegas Monorail serves the LVCC but not the Venetian Expo. Anyone with meetings in both has two choices: ride the shuttle and accept its queue, or hold a car.
Airport to venue: distances and typical times
Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) is close to everything, which is why the delay comes from the roads, not the miles. The figures below are for a normal weekday; on CES mornings and evenings, add the buffer your chauffeur confirms at booking.
| From Harry Reid Airport (LAS) to | Distance | Typical drive time |
|---|---|---|
| Las Vegas Convention Center | about 8 km (5 mi) | 10 to 25 minutes |
| Venetian Expo and Venetian / Palazzo | about 9 km (6 mi) | 15 to 30 minutes |
| Central Strip resorts (Bellagio, ARIA, Caesars) | about 8 km (5 mi) | 10 to 25 minutes |
| Mandalay Bay and the southern Strip | about 5 km (3 mi) | 10 to 20 minutes |
| Wynn, Encore and Resorts World | about 11 km (7 mi) | 15 to 30 minutes |
| Downtown and Fremont Street | about 13 km (8 mi) | 15 to 30 minutes |
| Summerlin | about 25 to 30 km (16 to 19 mi) | 25 to 45 minutes |
The arrival-side detail is on the Harry Reid International chauffeur page. In short: flight tracking is included on every airport pickup, and the free waiting time after landing is 60 minutes on international arrivals and 30 minutes on domestic arrivals. On a CES morning that buffer is worth having, because bag delivery at Terminal 1 and Terminal 3 slows when several flights land together.
How to arrive at Harry Reid on CES week
The airport's official taxi and ride share page places taxis outside baggage claim at Terminal 1 near doors 1 to 4 and on Level Zero near door 52 at Terminal 3, and places app-based ride share in the parking garage (Level 2 at Terminal 1, the Valet Level at Terminal 3). Both options involve a walk and a queue, and CES week lengthens both.

With a pre-booked chauffeur you can ask for a name-board meet-and-greet inside arrivals as an add-on, with an alias on the board if you prefer not to be identified. The chauffeur walks the bags to a vehicle that is already positioned. For a group, an Executive Sprinter (Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, up to 12 to 14 passengers and 12 bags) keeps the party together; for one or two executives, a First Class Sedan (Mercedes-Benz S-Class, BMW 7 Series or similar) is the usual choice. Every class is "or similar", and the exact model is confirmed at booking. See the fleet page for the full list.
Where a private car can actually stop
This is the part first-time exhibitors underestimate, and it is the reason to book with a chauffeur who knows the campus.
- Licensing is a requirement, not a courtesy. The CES 2027 Venetian and Palazzo exhibitor guide states that all private charters and limousines must be licensed in the State of Nevada and hold a certificate of public convenience under Nevada statute 706.476, and that uncertified vehicles can be removed from CES premises. Trips inside the United States on our service use US-licensed operators, and for Las Vegas that means a Nevada-licensed operator.
- Venetian porte cochère. Private charters may drop off at the north end of the Venetian's porte cochère, but pick-up or drop-off there needs approval from the hotel and CES Operations, and the area is for loading and unloading only. Vehicles cannot wait there for passengers.
- LVCC curb rules. The official CES transportation page says passenger pickup and drop-off at the Convention Center is allowed only at the S2, C5 and West Hall entrances, drivers must stay with their vehicles, and standing or parking is not allowed.
- No public parking. The same page says there is no public parking at the LVCC or the Venetian Expo, which is one reason shuttle queues form.
In practice, your chauffeur drops you at the correct entrance, leaves the curb immediately, and returns on a text message when your meeting ends. That loop only works if the operator is briefed on the entrance for your badge type, so tell the desk which hall or suite you are heading to when you book.
Comparing the ways to get around CES
| Option | Typical time between LVCC and the central Strip | Cost note | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Official CES hotel shuttle | Varies with queues and traffic | Free for registered attendees at participating hotels | Attendees with flexible timing |
| Tech Express (Route 9) | LVCC to Venetian Expo, queue-dependent | Free with badge | Moving between the two main venues |
| Las Vegas Monorail | Fixed route, unaffected by road traffic | Pass or fare, discounted passes through registration | Strip hotel to LVCC, avoiding traffic |
| Taxi | 15 to 40 minutes | Metered, long lines at day's end | Single travelers with light bags |
| Rideshare | 15 to 45 minutes | Surge-priced at peaks | Short, unplanned trips |
| Pre-booked chauffeur | 15 to 35 minutes | Fixed fare quoted before you book | Executives, groups, fixed appointments, late nights |
The Monorail is the best-value option for a solo attendee staying at a station hotel; per CES, it runs from early morning to late at night and connects the LVCC with several Strip resorts. If your hotel is on the Monorail line and your day ends at the LVCC, take it. A chauffeur is the better answer when you carry demo equipment, travel in a group, or have an appointment where lateness costs more than the ride.
Exhibitor and stand-team logistics
Exhibitor weeks run on early starts. Stand teams typically need to be inside well before public hours, and the first hours of a show morning are the worst for road congestion. Practical points we plan around:

- Early-morning runs. Book the team's first run for the previous afternoon, so the pickup time is set and the chauffeur knows the entrance. A car at your hotel at a fixed time beats hoping for a shuttle seat.
- Luggage and demo cases. A Luxury SUV (Cadillac Escalade, Chevrolet Suburban, GMC Yukon Denali or similar) takes up to 6 passengers and 5 to 6 large bags. If cases are bulky, tell us the count and size at booking so the right class is assigned.
- Freight is separate. Show freight and booth materials move through the show's official contractors. A chauffeur carries people and their luggage; it is not a freight service.
- Moving between suites and the show floor. An hourly chauffeur stays with your team from morning to night, which avoids the end-of-day taxi line. See the hourly chauffeur service page.
Companies sending several people can open a corporate account with monthly invoicing, so one statement covers the whole show. The conference transportation guide explains how multi-day bookings and delegations are organized.
A sample CES day for a visiting executive
A realistic day for a senior attendee staying on the Strip, with times as a pattern rather than a promise:
- 7:15 Chauffeur collects from the hotel for a breakfast meeting at another resort, about 2 km (1 mi), 10 to 15 minutes in show-week traffic.
- 9:00 Drop-off at an approved LVCC entrance for a keynote or a booth appointment, about 6 km (4 mi) from the central Strip, 15 to 30 minutes.
- 12:30 Car on call for a lunch meeting at the Venetian Expo area, 20 to 35 minutes depending on the queue at Paradise Road.
- 15:30 Back to the hotel for calls, then out again.
- 19:00 Dinner, possibly in Summerlin, about 25 to 30 km (16 to 19 mi), 30 to 45 minutes.
- 22:30 Late return, when taxi queues are long and ride-share prices are at their peak.
Because the chauffeur knows the day's pattern, the vehicle is already at the correct curb for each leg, and the booking desk can adjust pickup times if a session overruns.
Evenings, entertainment and a day off
CES nights are long. If your group wants to see the city, the Las Vegas Strip guide explains where cars can drop off at the big resorts, and the Sphere guide covers the venue beside the Venetian, where event nights add their own congestion. For a quieter break after the show, Red Rock Canyon is about 40 km (25 mi) from the airport, 40 to 60 minutes, and the Fremont Street Experience is about 13 km (8 mi) away. Ask for a driver for the day and the operator plans the route, the timing and the stops.
Discretion for speakers, founders and senior buyers
Chauffeurs do not photograph clients or post about trips, NDAs are signed on request, and a booking can be placed under an alias. That matters at a show where product launches and investor meetings happen in hotel corridors. We are a chauffeur service, not a security company: no armed drivers and no bodyguards. If your executive travels with a security team, the chauffeur works alongside them, and the desk can share timings in advance. For the full picture of private-client travel, see the VIP and celebrity chauffeur page.
Planning checklist for CES week
- Book airport pickups and the first-day hotel run as soon as flights are confirmed; CES week is the busiest in the Las Vegas calendar.
- Share your flight number so tracking is set up, and any change of terminal or time.
- Tell the desk which entrance or suite you need: LVCC West Hall, S2, C5 or the Venetian.
- Add a child, toddler or booster seat at booking if needed; they are available on request.
- Decide which trips need a fixed car (meetings, dinners, departures) and which can use the free shuttles.
- Confirm the departure run early, because the last day brings the longest taxi lines.
Cancellation terms: more than 72 hours' notice is free of charge, 72 hours or less carries 10%, 48 hours or less 50%, and 24 hours or less or a no-show 100%, measured from the scheduled pickup time. Large events may carry a different deadline, which is stated on your confirmation.

Frequently asked questions
When is CES 2027 in Las Vegas?
CES 2027 runs from 6 to 9 January 2027, according to the official CES website, with CES Unveiled Las Vegas on 4 January 2027. Confirm the latest schedule and your badge access on ces.tech before you travel.
How far is the Las Vegas Convention Center from the airport?
The Convention Center is about 8 km (5 mi) from Harry Reid International Airport, usually 10 to 25 minutes. During CES, mornings and evenings are slower, so your chauffeur adds a buffer based on live traffic and the entrance you need.
Can I book a private car to drop me at the Convention Center?
Yes. Passenger drop-off at the LVCC is allowed at the S2, C5 and West Hall entrances, and drivers must keep moving. Tell the desk which entrance suits your badge or hall, and the chauffeur will use it and return on your message.
Do CES limousines need a Nevada license?
The CES exhibitor guide for the Venetian and Palazzo suites says private charters and limousines must be licensed in the State of Nevada with a certificate of public convenience. Our service uses US-licensed operators, which in Las Vegas means a Nevada-licensed operator.
Is a chauffeur better than the free CES shuttle?
Not always. The shuttles suit attendees with flexible timing. A chauffeur is better for fixed appointments, groups with luggage, late-night returns and anyone who would rather skip a queue. The honest answer is to use both where each fits.
How much does a CES car service cost?
The fare depends on the pickup, the destination, the vehicle and the time of day. The online booker shows an exact fixed fare for your addresses and vehicle before you confirm, so there is no meter and no surprise at the end of the ride.
Can you pick up several people from different flights?
Yes. Each arrival gets flight tracking and its own waiting window, 60 minutes free on international arrivals and 30 minutes on domestic ones. Larger groups can be consolidated into an Executive Sprinter or split across several vehicles.
Can the driver wait outside the Venetian or the Convention Center?
Not at the curb. Official rules say vehicles cannot stage at the Venetian porte cochère, and LVCC drivers must stay with the vehicle and not stand or park at the passenger entrances. Your chauffeur waits nearby and returns when you message.
Do you provide security?
No. We are a chauffeur service, not a security company, and we do not provide armed drivers or bodyguards. We work alongside a client's own security team and keep bookings private on request.
