How do I book Cannes Film Festival transportation?

Reserve a chauffeur for each leg you need: airport arrival, hotel transfers, evening gala runs and departure. Share your hotel, schedule and screening times. A vetted local operator then plans around the Croisette traffic, and our 24/7 desk confirms and invoices at a fixed fare shown before you pay.

For twelve days every May, a seafront boulevard of roughly three kilometers becomes one of the most scrutinized pieces of road in the world. The Cannes Film Festival is a business event, a press event and a social event at once, and the quality of a trip is decided by small things: the car that is where it should be at 6:40 p.m., the dress that arrives uncreased, the departure that does not collide with a screening. This page covers Cannes Film Festival transportation: dates, how the day is organized, distances, what a car can and cannot do near the Palais des Festivals, and when the train or a short walk is smarter.

When is the next Cannes Film Festival?

The official Festival de Cannes site lists the 80th edition as running 11 to 22 May 2027. The Festival is primarily for film professionals and the trade press. According to the official FAQ, the public can take part through programs such as Cannes Cinéma, 3 Days in Cannes (ages 18 to 28) and the Cinéma de la Plage, whose screenings are free. Cinephile accreditation covers Official Selection films and some parallel-section screenings.

Tickets for screenings are free but available only to accredited people through the Festival's online ticket office, and reselling them is prohibited. We provide transport and do not sell or arrange tickets or accreditations.

Gala evenings: what the Festival asks of guests

The same FAQ gives the rules that shape evening transport.

  • Evening gala screenings at the Grand Théâtre Lumière, at around 7 and 10 p.m., call for evening wear: black tie or a dark suit with a bow tie or dark tie, a cocktail or evening dress, or a dark pantsuit. Sneakers are not allowed.
  • Tote bags, backpacks and large bags are prohibited at gala screenings. Lockers near the Gare Maritime are open until 12:30 a.m.
  • Voluminous outfits with large trains are not permitted.
  • Security checks may affect access to the Palais, entry is not possible once a screening has started, and guests should arrive at the time printed on the ticket.

For a chauffeur, this means a gala evening is a timed operation. The car is ready before you are, the garment bag has room, and the drop-off is planned so you walk the shortest permitted route. Official delegation arrivals on the red carpet are organized by the Festival itself; we do not control the carpet, and we make no claim to special access. We deliver you to the closest practical point and collect you afterward.

What the roads around the Palais are like

The Palais des Festivals sits on the Croisette, the seafront boulevard, at the heart of the hotel district. Each year the city adjusts traffic, bus routes and parking around the Festival. The local bus network, Palm Bus, publishes its adapted lines at palmdeplacements.fr, and the municipality's guidance is on the Cannes city website. The specifics change from year to year and are usually announced shortly before the event.

Three practical points follow from that.

  • Do not plan to drive up to the Palais. Treat the area immediately around it as pedestrian-first, with controlled access.
  • Expect delay on evening peaks. The hour before the galas and the hour after are the slowest on the Croisette.
  • Make the last 300 meters on foot a deliberate part of the plan. Shoes and weather matter.

Your confirmation names the meeting point for each leg, and the chauffeur updates it by message if the access arrangements change.

Distances: Cannes and the Riviera

Distances are approximate road distances, and the drive times are typical off-peak figures. During the Festival, traffic on the A8 motorway and the coastal roads can add a good deal of time, particularly toward Nice on the first and last days.

How does a chauffeur compare with the other ways around Cannes?

Private chauffeur, pre-booked15 to 50 min depending on routeFixed fare via the bookerGala evenings, airport legs, hotels outside the center, press schedules

Honestly: if your hotel is on the Croisette and your day is spent between the Palais and nearby venues, you may need a car only for the airport and for gala evenings. The Croisette is walkable, and the station is about a kilometer from the Palais. A chauffeur is most useful for the airport legs, for hotels in Mougins, Cap d'Antibes or Nice, for gala dress and timing, and for guests who cannot afford to be late.

Where to stay and what it means for transport

  • On the Croisette: closest to the Palais; transport needs are mainly airport and evening.
  • Le Suquet and the old town: close to the old port, with narrow streets; the chauffeur agrees a walking meeting point.
  • Mougins, Cap d'Antibes and Antibes: quieter, villa-style stays; a car is essential for evening runs of 15 to 35 minutes each way.
  • Nice: a popular base for visitors on a different budget or schedule, with the A8 and the train as the two routes.

Book transport when you book the hotel. The Festival is one of the busiest periods of the Riviera year, and chauffeur cars, like rooms, are placed in the order they are requested. A good plan names the car for each gala evening, the airport legs on both ends and a standby window for changes.

Business, press and market days

The Festival is also a film market, and daytime schedules are often meeting-driven. Guests with back-to-back appointments between the Palais, hotels and restaurants often prefer hourly hire so the car stays with them across a day. The hourly chauffeur service page explains how this works, and the corporate car service page covers monthly invoicing for companies sending several delegates. For a crowd arriving together, the event transportation page describes group and shuttle planning, and the Executive Sprinter page covers larger vehicles.

Talent, publicists and discretion

Chauffeurs do not photograph clients or post about trips. NDAs are signed on request, and bookings can be made under an alias. The name-board meet-and-greet is an add-on, and an alias can appear on the board. We are a chauffeur service and not a security company: no armed drivers and no bodyguards, although we work comfortably alongside a client's own security team and the publicist's schedule. For high-profile guests, see the VIP and celebrity chauffeur page.

Before and after: the rest of the coast

Many guests combine the Festival with a few days on the coast. Useful guides:

The Monaco Grand Prix page covers the other big Riviera event of the season, and the ILTM Cannes page covers the luxury-travel gathering held in the same city. For events elsewhere, the events hub lists more. Official tourist offices, tourism boards and visitor centres can book chauffeur services for their visitors with LimousineWorldwideDirectory.com through a trade account.

Vehicle classes for the Festival

Classes are confirmed at booking and are "or similar". In France we describe them by Mercedes-Benz model.

  • Executive Sedan (Mercedes-Benz E-Class or similar): up to 3 passengers, 2 large bags and 2 cabin bags.
  • First Class Sedan (Mercedes-Benz S-Class, BMW 7 Series or similar): up to 3 passengers, 2 large bags and 2 cabin bags.
  • Luxury SUV (Mercedes-Benz V-Class or comparable): up to 6 passengers and 5 to 6 large bags; capacity confirmed at booking.
  • Executive Sprinter (Mercedes-Benz Sprinter): 12 to 14 passengers and 12 bags.

Stretch limousines, mini-coaches and coaches are available on request, as are Maybach, Rolls-Royce and Bentley, with availability confirmed at booking. Child, toddler and booster seats are available on request. Most vehicles carry water and phone chargers, and alcohol is never promised on board because local law applies. All vehicles are late-model, maintained and inspected, no more than four model years old (Rolls-Royce, Bentley and Maybach up to seven). See the fleet page.

Booking early and cancellations

Reserve as soon as your hotel and flights are fixed. Large events may carry a different cancellation deadline, which is stated on your confirmation. Otherwise, the standard terms are: more than 72 hours' notice, no charge; 72 hours or less, 10%; 48 hours or less, 50%; 24 hours or less or a no-show, 100%, measured from the scheduled pickup time. Airport pickups include flight tracking, with 60 minutes of free waiting after landing on international arrivals and 30 minutes domestic. We quote no prices on this page; the online booker shows the exact fixed fare for your addresses and vehicle. More answers are on the FAQ, and other destinations are in the Europe directory.

Frequently asked questions

When is the 2027 Cannes Film Festival?

The official Festival site lists the 80th edition as 11 to 22 May 2027.

How far is Nice Airport from the Palais des Festivals?

About 30 km (19 mi) by road, typically 30 to 50 minutes. During the Festival, the A8 and coastal roads can be slower, especially at the start and end of the event.

Can a limo drop me at the red carpet?

The Festival organizes official arrivals on the red carpet, and we do not control access. We take you to the nearest practical drop-off point and collect you afterward, following the Festival's security checks and timing rules.

What is the dress code for gala screenings?

The official FAQ asks for evening wear at Grand Théâtre Lumière galas, such as black tie or a dark suit with a bow tie or dark tie, a cocktail or evening dress, or a dark pantsuit. Sneakers are not allowed, and large bags are prohibited.

Can the public attend the Cannes Film Festival?

Most screenings are for accredited people, but the official FAQ lists public options including the free Cinéma de la Plage, Cannes Cinéma and 3 Days in Cannes for ages 18 to 28.

Is the train better than a car from Nice?

For a single traveler with flexible timing, often yes. A chauffeur is better for airport legs, luggage, gala evenings and guests who must keep to a tight schedule.

Do you offer hourly hire during the Festival?

Yes. Hourly hire keeps the car with you between meetings and screenings, and the desk plans the day around your schedule.

Can you arrange a car for private aviation arrivals?

Yes. We coordinate cars with jets at Nice and other airports, and the chauffeur meets you at the aircraft or terminal arranged with the handler.

How do I get a fare for the Festival?

Open the online booker, enter pickup, destination, date and time and choose a vehicle. It shows the exact fixed fare before you confirm.
