Two terminals, two boroughs, one booking

New York has two cruise terminals inside the city limits, and they are not close to each other. The Manhattan Cruise Terminal is on the Hudson River on the West Side of Midtown. The Brooklyn Cruise Terminal is on the Upper Bay in Red Hook. A ship's departure from one is no help if your driver goes to the other, so the first rule of New York cruise transportation is simple: confirm which terminal and tell the desk.

LimousineWorldwideDirectory.com books both through a 24/7 desk. Each ride is delivered by a vetted, licensed and commercially insured local chauffeur operator from our worldwide directory, confirmed and invoiced by us, with one confirmation and one contact for the whole trip. If your sailing leaves from the New Jersey side of the harbor instead, tell us and we plan a different route.

Manhattan Cruise Terminal: address and approach

The New York City Economic Development Corporation operates the terminal and publishes the details at cruise.nyc. The Manhattan Cruise Terminal is at 711 12th Avenue, at the end of West 48th Street. Its official directions say that all cars enter from the north, at the intersection of 55th Street and 12th Avenue (State Route 9A). That detail matters, because the street grid near the terminal is full of one-way blocks and a driver unfamiliar with the entrance will circle.

Inside, the process, described on the operator's embarking and disembarking page, is clear. Embarking passengers arrive at street level at the pier where their ship is berthed, take either of the two elevators at the head of each pier or an escalator to the customs hall, and hand their baggage to porters. On the way back, returning passengers go to the baggage hall, collect their bags, clear customs and move out to coaches, taxis and limousines or parking. The terminal has no luggage storage lockers, which affects anyone planning to arrive early or leave late. Parking, for those who drive themselves, was listed at $45 per night, credit card only (as of 2026).

How far is the Manhattan Cruise Terminal from JFK, LaGuardia and Newark?

The Manhattan Cruise Terminal is roughly 27 km (17 mi) from JFK, 14 km (9 mi) from LaGuardia and 26 km (16 mi) from Newark Liberty. Drive times run 30 to 75 minutes depending on traffic and tunnel queues. Penn Station is about 2.3 km (1.4 mi) away.

New York drive times are wide because the road network funnels through a handful of crossings. JFK reaches the West Side by the Belt Parkway, the Grand Central Parkway or the Van Wyck and the Queens-Midtown Tunnel. LaGuardia is the shortest run. Newark crosses the Hudson through the Lincoln Tunnel, whose approach is the difficult part at 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. For details on each airport's pickup rules, see the JFK page, the LaGuardia page and the Newark Liberty page. Private jet arrivals into Teterboro reach the terminal in roughly 35 to 60 minutes over about 19 km (12 mi); see the Teterboro page.

Brooklyn Cruise Terminal: Red Hook

The Brooklyn Cruise Terminal is at 210 Clinton Wharf, Brooklyn, NY 11231. The terminal's own directions say that all cars enter at the intersection of Bowne Street and Imlay Street, and route drivers from Manhattan, Long Island and New Jersey via the BQE and Hamilton Avenue (Exit 26), then Van Brunt Street and Bowne Street. The terminal has an outdoor, secured lot overlooking the Statue of Liberty, and its page notes that spaces turn over as parked passengers clear customs, usually by about 10 to 10:30 a.m. Porters are available from 9 a.m.

Two points are worth knowing before you plan. First, the operator advises public transportation, including the NYC Ferry's Red Hook landing and the B61 and B77 buses, as its page recommends. Second, the terminal's page names one provider for car service. If your pickup or drop-off is in Brooklyn, mention it when you book and we will confirm the access arrangement with you in advance, rather than discovering a restriction at the gate.

Approximate road distances to Red Hook are 27 km (17 mi) from JFK, 21 km (13 mi) from LaGuardia and 30 km (19 mi) from Newark Liberty, and 13 km (8 mi) from Midtown Manhattan through the Brooklyn-Battery Tunnel. Allow 30 to 75 minutes depending on the hour. The New York limo service page explains our citywide service.

Drop-off, luggage and the second level

At the Manhattan terminal, a car that wants to park cannot drop bags and then park without leaving the terminal area, according to the terminal's own guidance, so it advises parking first and dropping luggage on the second level for check-in. A chauffeur drop-off avoids the problem completely: the vehicle unloads at the passenger area and leaves, and the porters take over. The terminal also directs taxi riders to a taxi stand for on-demand trips and a holding lot for pre-arranged ones.

The operator's guidance for taxi riders is also good general advice for anyone in New York: confirm that a vehicle is licensed by the Taxi and Limousine Commission, do not let strangers direct you into a vehicle, and ask for a receipt. A pre-booked chauffeur removes the question entirely, since you have a confirmation naming the operator before you leave home.

Private chauffeur45 to 75 minutes, door to terminalFixed fare via the bookerFamilies, groups, executives and fixed schedules

The terminal's directions list taxi estimates from each airport; JFK is quoted at a flat rate and the other airports at approximate ranges, with Newark noted for negotiation in advance. If you want the lowest fare and you are carrying one case, a taxi from LaGuardia is hard to beat. A private chauffeur is for the days when the trip matters: a family with six bags, a boarding window you cannot miss, or a principal who does not queue.

From Penn Station and Midtown hotels

Hotels in Midtown are close, about 2 to 5 km (1 to 3 mi) from the terminal and 10 to 25 minutes in ordinary traffic. Upper West Side hotels are about 4 to 6 km (2.5 to 4 mi), and downtown hotels are about 8 to 12 km (5 to 7.5 mi). Amtrak and NJ Transit arrivals at Penn Station are around 2.3 km (1.4 mi) away, a ride of 10 to 20 minutes. The train station transfers page explains how rail pickups work.

The West Side near the terminal is also within the zone of Manhattan where tolling applies on local streets at and south of 60th Street, although the West Side Highway is excluded; the MTA explains the details on its Congestion Relief Zone page. The fare in the booker is quoted before you confirm, so the question for you is only which route is best. Leave that to the operator.

Pre-cruise day: New York with a driver

Cruises from New York often start with a free day or an afternoon. A chauffeur by the hour keeps it manageable. Useful anchors, all measured from the Manhattan terminal:

Embarkation and disembarkation timing

Cruise lines assign boarding windows and publish them on your documents; they, not the terminal, decide when you may board. As a rule, aim for the middle of the window and travel with passports and medication in your carry-on. On the way back, customs clearance and the baggage hall set the pace, and groups leave in order. A flight booked too early on disembarkation day is the commonest source of stress in New York, because the drive to JFK or Newark can take over an hour. Choose flights that leave in the afternoon.

For port pickups our free waiting time is 15 minutes from the scheduled time. If your group is called later than expected, tell the desk and the operator adjusts, and a name-board meet-and-greet is available as an add-on where the terminal allows it. See the meet and greet page.

Vehicles and privacy

An Executive Sedan (Mercedes-Benz E-Class or Cadillac CT6/Lyriq or similar) carries up to 3 passengers with 2 large and 2 cabin bags; the First Class Sedan (S-Class, BMW 7 Series or similar) carries the same. For a family with cruise luggage choose the Luxury SUV (Cadillac Escalade, Chevrolet Suburban or GMC Yukon Denali or similar), with up to 6 passengers and 5 to 6 large bags, or the Executive Sprinter for groups of 12 to 14. Stretch limousines, mini-coaches and coaches are available on request, along with Maybach, Rolls-Royce and Bentley, availability confirmed at booking. Vehicles are late-model and no more than four model years old (seven for Rolls-Royce, Bentley and Maybach). Child, toddler and booster seats are available on request. Browse the fleet.

Clients who prefer discretion get it: drivers do not photograph clients or post about trips, NDAs are signed on request, and alias bookings keep a name off the board. We are a chauffeur service and not a security company, so there are no armed drivers or bodyguards; a client's security team is welcome to ride alongside. Travel agents, destination management companies and hotel concierges can use trade accounts, and tourist offices and visitor bureaus can book chauffeur services for their visitors through a trade account.

Other ports: PortMiami, Port Canaveral and the cruise ports hub. The cruise transfers page explains the product.

Frequently asked questions

Where is the Manhattan Cruise Terminal?

At 711 12th Avenue on the Hudson River, at the end of West 48th Street. Cars enter from the north at 55th Street and 12th Avenue.

Where is the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal?

At 210 Clinton Wharf in Red Hook, Brooklyn, entered from the Bowne Street and Imlay Street intersection.

How far is the Manhattan Cruise Terminal from JFK?

About 27 km (17 mi), 45 to 75 minutes by car depending on the hour and the tunnels.

How far is the cruise terminal from Newark airport?

About 26 km (16 mi), 40 to 75 minutes, mostly dictated by the Lincoln Tunnel queue.

Can I leave my luggage at the terminal before boarding?

The Manhattan terminal has no luggage storage lockers, and its guidance says private cars should park first and drop bags on the second level. A chauffeur drop-off avoids that step.

How early should I arrive for boarding?

Follow the boarding window on your cruise documents. Arriving in the middle of the window is typically calm, and arriving long before it means waiting.

Do you serve the New Jersey cruise terminal as well?

Cape Liberty Cruise Port in Bayonne, New Jersey is a separate terminal. Tell the desk if your ship sails from there and we plan the route from your address.

Can you pick me up at Penn Station or from a private jet at Teterboro?

Yes to both. Give the desk the train or tail number and arrival time.
