Long Island limo service for a 120-mile island with one main road

Long Island is a single stretch of land about 120 miles long. At the western end are Queens and Brooklyn, with JFK and LaGuardia. Beyond them lie Nassau County, the Gold Coast estates and the offices of Garden City and Melville. Further east come Suffolk County, the South Shore beaches, the Hamptons and Montauk, and the North Fork's farms and vineyards.

Almost everything here depends on a handful of roads: the Long Island Expressway, the Northern and Southern State Parkways, Sunrise Highway and Montauk Highway. A good Long Island limo service is mostly about reading them. LimousineWorldwideDirectory.com books it through a 24/7 desk. A vetted, licensed and commercially insured local chauffeur operator from our worldwide directory delivers each ride, and the desk books, confirms and invoices it: one booking, one confirmation, one invoice, one point of contact. Trips inside the United States use US-licensed operators.

Open the online booker, enter pickup and drop-off addresses and your flight number, and choose a vehicle. It shows the exact fixed fare before you confirm. A licensed Long Island chauffeur is assigned, flights are tracked, and you receive one confirmation and one invoice.

Corporate accounts with monthly invoicing, and trade accounts for travel agents, DMCs and hotel concierges, run through the same desk. For the worldwide standard, see our chauffeur service and black car service pages. If your trip starts in Manhattan, read the New York limo service page too.

Which airport should you use for Long Island?

Three airports serve Long Island, and the right one depends on where you are going.

JFK has the widest international network and is the usual choice for the South Shore, the Hamptons and Nassau County. LaGuardia is closer to the North Shore and Gold Coast on the Queens side. Newark is across the Hudson, so it adds a full New York City crossing before the island begins.

Long Island MacArthur Airport (ISP) in Islip is the island's own airport. Its website says it is served by Avelo, Breeze, Cape Air, Frontier, JetBlue and Southwest nonstop to 16 destinations, and that it has easy access to the Long Island Rail Road Ronkonkoma/MacArthur Airport station and a ground transportation center (Long Island MacArthur Airport). For a Hamptons or Fire Island visit from Florida or the Southeast, ISP is often the shorter drive than JFK.

Flights are tracked on every airport pickup, with 60 minutes of free waiting after an international landing and 30 minutes after a domestic one. A name board inside arrivals is available as an add-on. See airport car service.

Long Island distances and drive times

All times are approximate off-peak figures. Summer Fridays, Sunday evenings and holiday weekends can double the east-end trips.

The Hamptons by chauffeur

The Hamptons are the island's best-known destination, and also the part where a car is most useful and most delayed. A weekday trip from Manhattan to Southampton is a pleasant two-hour drive. A summer Friday afternoon can turn the same drive into four hours or more. The Hamptons are also where "who is driving" matters: guests arriving for dinners and weddings, parties of six and eight, and long weekend stays with luggage.

Loading luggage into the car
Loading luggage into the car

Our full visitor guide, The Hamptons by chauffeur, explains timing, the villages from Westhampton to Montauk, and where a car can stop. Practical advice from the dispatch desk: leave Manhattan before noon on Fridays or after 8 pm, return Sunday before lunch or after dinner, and book the weekend return with the outbound trip so that the same chauffeur and car are held for you. The LIRR and bus services are valid alternatives for solo travelers; a chauffeur is the better choice with bags, a group, or a dinner time to meet.

The North Fork, Fire Island and the beaches

East of Riverhead the island splits in two. The North Fork is farm stands, small wineries and Greenport's harbor; the south fork is the Hamptons. Chauffeurs run day circuits on the North Fork with a lunch stop and a designated driver for tastings. We never promise drinks on board, and local law applies.

Fire Island National Seashore is a different case. According to the National Park Service, visitors drive or take the LIRR to ferry terminals and use passenger ferries from mid-May to mid-October; the Fire Island Lighthouse, Wilderness Visitor Center and William Floyd Estate can be reached year-round by car (NPS Fire Island directions). Your chauffeur takes you to the right ferry terminal and holds the return. Jones Beach State Park on the South Shore is much easier by car and sits about 20 miles (32 km) from JFK, typically 30 to 45 minutes.

Gold Coast estates and North Shore day trips

The North Shore's historic estates are among Long Island's quiet pleasures. Old Westbury Gardens, about 25 miles (40 km) from Manhattan, offers house tours, gardens and a changing events program (Old Westbury Gardens). Sagamore Hill in Oyster Bay, the Vanderbilt Museum in Centerport and Oheka Castle in Huntington are within an hour's drive of each other. A chauffeured day tour can link two or three of them with lunch in a village.

For other scenic days from New York, see the Central Park guide and the attractions hub. Private tours with driver explains how we plan the stops.

Belmont Park, UBS Arena and the US Open

Belmont Park in Elmont is the island's biggest racing venue. NYRA says the reimagined park is open, with a 2026 fall meet from September 18 to December 6, and lists the 2027 Belmont Stakes at Belmont Park (NYRA). UBS Arena, home to the New York Islanders, is on the same campus (UBS Arena). On big days, approach roads on Hempstead Turnpike fill early, so we recommend that your chauffeur's drop-off and pickup be agreed in advance and the pickup be an hour after the final race or the final whistle, to avoid the first wave.

A tennis stadium
A tennis stadium

The US Open is held at the tennis center in Queens, also on Long Island's western tip; see the US Open tennis page. For groups, see event transportation, the events hub and the wedding limo service page for weddings on the island. Large events may carry a different cancellation deadline, stated on the confirmation.

Black car service for business on Long Island

Long Island's business centers are Garden City, Melville and the Route 110 corridor, Hauppauge, and the airport corridor near JFK and LaGuardia. Meetings in these places are 10 to 30 miles (16 to 48 km) apart, mostly on the LIE, and that road is unforgiving at commute times. Book a corporate car service account with monthly invoicing, or an hourly chauffeur service block of four, six or ten hours. Choose the Executive Sedan (Mercedes-Benz E-Class, Cadillac CT6 or Lyriq or similar, up to 3 passengers) for one or two, the First Class Sedan (Mercedes-Benz S-Class, BMW 7 Series or similar) for senior guests, and the Luxury SUV (Cadillac Escalade, Chevrolet Suburban, GMC Yukon Denali or similar, up to 6) for a team with bags. See the fleet.

Private aviation, rail and ferries

East Hampton Airport and Francis S. Gabreski Airport in Westhampton Beach are the best-known airfields for private and charter travel to the east end, and Teterboro in New Jersey is the usual jet destination for Manhattan; see the Teterboro page and the private aviation hub. Rules at East Hampton and other town airports change, so give us the airport, operator and tail number at booking. See private jet car service.

The Long Island Rail Road runs from Penn Station and other Manhattan stations; see the Penn Station New York page and train station transfers. If you are sailing from Manhattan, see the Manhattan Cruise Terminal page. The North America directory lists neighboring cities, and tourist offices can book chauffeur services for their visitors with LimousineWorldwideDirectory.com through a trade account; see the North America tourist offices page. Visit the island's destination site, Discover Long Island, for events such as Long Island Restaurant Week, listed for November 1 to 8, 2026.

If you travel alone from Penn Station to a Hamptons village near a station, the train costs less and is often quicker on summer Fridays. A chauffeur wins on bags, groups, odd hours and door-to-door schedules.

Traffic, weather and timing

The LIE, Southern State and Sunrise Highway slow quickly on Fridays and Sundays from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Winter storms and nor'easters close roads for short periods, and hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30. The desk monitors conditions and contacts you if the plan should change.

Vehicles, waiting time and cancellation

The usual Long Island choices include the Executive Sprinter (Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, 12 to 14 passengers, 12 bags) for weddings and groups. Stretch limousine, mini-coach and coach are available on request, and Maybach, Rolls-Royce and Bentley on request, with availability confirmed at booking. Child, toddler and booster seats are available on request. Most vehicles carry water and phone chargers.

Free waiting is 15 minutes on non-airport pickups. Cancellation is free with more than 72 hours' notice; 72 hours or less is 10%, 48 hours or less is 50%, and 24 hours or less or a no-show is 100%, measured from the scheduled pickup time. Chauffeurs do not photograph clients or post about trips, NDAs are signed on request, and alias bookings are accepted. We are a chauffeur service, not a security company: no armed drivers, no bodyguards. More on the about page and the FAQ.
