Before you land: what makes a New Orleans limo service different
New Orleans is a city where the most interesting places are the hardest to reach by car. The French Quarter has narrow, mostly one-way streets. Mardi Gras closes whole districts. The airport is in a different parish, the cruise terminals are on a working riverfront, and the plantations and swamps are an hour or more upriver. A New Orleans limo service is mostly about knowing the drop-off points and the calendar.
LimousineWorldwideDirectory.com books it through a 24/7 desk. A vetted, licensed and commercially insured local chauffeur operator from our worldwide directory delivers each ride, and the desk books, confirms and invoices it: one booking, one confirmation, one invoice, one point of contact at any hour. Trips inside the United States use US-licensed operators.
What is the easiest way to book a limo service in New Orleans?

Use the online booker: enter your pickup, drop-off and flight number, then choose a vehicle. It shows the exact fixed fare before you confirm. A licensed New Orleans chauffeur is assigned, your flight is tracked, and you receive one confirmation and one invoice.
Corporate accounts with monthly invoicing, and trade accounts for travel agents, DMCs and hotel concierges, run through the same desk. For the worldwide standard, see our chauffeur service page and the limo service overview.
Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY)
MSY is at 1 Terminal Drive in Kenner, Louisiana, and the airport describes itself as a short drive from downtown, the French Quarter and the Central Business District, with direct access to I-10. By road it is about 15 miles (24 km) to the French Quarter, usually 20 to 35 minutes, longer in the afternoon peak on I-10.
The airport's own pages show where each service picks up on Level 1: taxis at the dedicated zone outside Baggage Claim Door 7, ride-app vehicles at the middle curb, courtesy shuttles at the Ground Transportation Center near Doors 1 to 5, and the public Airport Express bus outside Door 2. The airport also warns travelers not to accept help from anyone who is not properly badged. Because of that, we recommend a name-board meet and greet inside baggage claim, where your chauffeur is waiting with your name or an alias before you leave the terminal. Details are on the MSY ground transportation page.
Flights are tracked, so delays do not change your pickup. Free waiting is 60 minutes after an international landing and 30 minutes after a domestic one. For the general service, see airport car service and the airports hub.

Cruise transfers: Port NOLA and the riverfront terminals
Port NOLA says New Orleans is the sixth-largest cruise port in the United States and that its terminals and parking facilities are in the heart of the city. Its headquarters is at 1350 Port of New Orleans Place. According to the port, Carnival passengers use the Erato Street Cruise Terminal parking garage, at 1100 Port of New Orleans Place, and Norwegian and Royal Caribbean passengers use the garage at 100 Poydras Street (Port NOLA cruise FAQs). Terminals vary by sailing, so give us your cruise line and ship name and we confirm the correct building.

A chauffeur is useful on both ends. On embarkation morning a private drop saves you the garage ramp and the shuttle wait; on disembarkation morning your driver waits at an agreed point. Combine a hotel night in the Warehouse District or French Quarter with a cruise transfer to the terminal, or an airport run to MSY after you return.
Black car service in the French Quarter, the CBD and the Garden District
The central business district around Poydras Street holds most corporate offices, the convention center, the Superdome and larger hotels. The French Quarter holds the oldest hotels and the best-known restaurants. The Garden District and Uptown, along St. Charles Avenue, hold the large houses, Tulane and Loyola. These areas are close together, but streets are narrow, many are one-way, and parking is difficult.
The practical advice is simple. Ask the hotel which entrance is used for vehicles, expect your chauffeur to stop at the nearest legal point, and for dinner give the restaurant name and the reservation time. Business travelers who want a dedicated car for several meetings can book an hourly chauffeur service block, and larger accounts use corporate car service with monthly invoicing. For the classes of vehicle, see the black car service page and the fleet.
The French Quarter, the WWII Museum and the Garden District by private car
Our visitor guide to the French Quarter explains drop-off points, walking routes and the best times for each street. For the history of the war, the National WWII Museum guide covers timing and entrances, and works well as a half-day with the Warehouse District.
For a day in the city, a chauffeur can run a loop: the Quarter in the morning, lunch in the Garden District, a streetcar stop on St. Charles Avenue and an evening on Frenchmen Street. Private tours with driver explains how we organize the stops. Tourist offices and visitor bureaus can book chauffeur services for their visitors with LimousineWorldwideDirectory.com through a trade account; see the North America tourist offices page and the official New Orleans & Company site for what to see. The attractions hub lists other cities' guides.
Mardi Gras, Jazz Fest and festival weeks
New Orleans runs on its calendar. Fat Tuesday in 2027 falls on February 9, according to MardiGrasNewOrleans.com, and Carnival season starts on January 6 (Mardi Gras dates). Parade routes close roads and the French Quarter becomes crowded; book your airport and hotel transfers early and plan to walk the last few blocks. Chauffeurs avoid the closed routes and agree a pickup point on the far side of the parade.

The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival is usually held from late April to early May; the 2026 festival ran April 23 to May 3 according to the festival's site. Other major dates include French Quarter Festival in April and Essence Festival around the July 4 weekend, and the Caesars Superdome has hosted Super Bowls, most recently Super Bowl LIX in February 2025; see the Super Bowl page. For group moves, use event transportation; the events hub and conferences hub list related pages, and conference transportation covers convention delegates. Large events may carry a different cancellation deadline, stated on the confirmation.
Private aviation at MSY
MSY has two fixed-base operators for general aviation, Atlantic Aviation (749 Lockheed Drive, Kenner) and Signature Flight Support (2200 Aberdeen Street, Kenner), both on the North GA Ramp, which is accessed from Aberdeen Drive off Veterans Boulevard, according to the airport (MSY general aviation). Give us the operator and tail number and your chauffeur meets you at the FBO or on the ramp where permitted. See private jet car service and the private aviation hub.
Plantations, swamps and Gulf Coast day trips
- Oak Alley Plantation. About 55 to 60 miles (90 to 97 km) upriver, roughly an hour and ten minutes each way. Check tour hours with the plantation before you travel, and bring a hat.
- Swamp and bayou tours. Departure points are 30 to 60 minutes from the city, and the operator provides the boat; your chauffeur waits or returns for you.
- Baton Rouge. About 80 miles (130 km), with a state capitol and the university as the common stops.
- Biloxi and the Mississippi Gulf Coast. About 90 miles (145 km) east on I-10.
Plan one stop on each side of lunch, and leave early in summer for the heat. Our long-distance car service page covers one-way and return runs, and the North America directory lists neighbors including Houston and Atlanta.
New Orleans airport transfer compared with the alternatives
| Option | Time to the Quarter or CBD | Cost note | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Airport Express bus (RTA) | Longer, to the downtown bus terminal | Lowest | Solo travelers, light bags |
| Taxi (airport zone) | 20 to 35 minutes | Posted airport fare to the CBD | Single travelers with little luggage |
| Rideshare | 20 to 35 minutes | Surge-priced at peak times | Light bags, flexible timing |
| Rental car | 20 to 35 minutes, plus pickup | Metered plus hotel parking | Day trips to plantations |
| Private chauffeur | 20 to 35 minutes | Fixed fare via the booker | Groups, late arrivals, cruise guests |
If you are traveling alone with a carry-on and staying in the CBD, the bus or the airport's posted taxi fare costs less and is perfectly good. A chauffeur is the better choice with luggage, children, a group, a cruise connection or a schedule to keep. Rental cars in the French Quarter are generally more trouble than they are worth because of limited parking.
Weather and timing
Hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30, and heavy thunderstorms can flood low streets quickly in summer. If an advisory or evacuation affects your booking, the desk contacts you with options. The highest-demand windows are Carnival season, Jazz Fest weekends, and Friday and Saturday evenings downtown.
Vehicles, waiting time and cancellation
The usual New Orleans choices are the Executive Sedan (Mercedes-Benz E-Class, Cadillac CT6 or Lyriq or similar, up to 3 passengers, 2 large and 2 cabin bags), the First Class Sedan (Mercedes-Benz S-Class, BMW 7 Series or similar), the Luxury SUV (Cadillac Escalade, Chevrolet Suburban, GMC Yukon Denali or similar, up to 6, 5 to 6 large bags) and the Executive Sprinter (Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, 12 to 14 passengers, 12 bags). Stretch limousine, mini-coach and coach are available on request, and Maybach, Rolls-Royce and Bentley on request, with availability confirmed at booking. Child, toddler and booster seats are available on request, and most vehicles carry water and phone chargers. We never promise drinks on board, and local law applies. Weddings are covered on the wedding limo service page.
Free waiting is 15 minutes on non-airport pickups. Cancellation is free with more than 72 hours' notice; 72 hours or less is 10%, 48 hours or less is 50%, and 24 hours or less or a no-show is 100%, measured from the scheduled pickup time. Chauffeurs do not photograph clients or post about trips, NDAs are signed on request, and alias bookings are accepted. We are a chauffeur service, not a security company. Frequently asked questions
How far is MSY airport from the French Quarter?
About 15 miles (24 km), usually 20 to 35 minutes by road via I-10. The airport is in Kenner, Louisiana, just outside the city.
Where do I meet my chauffeur at New Orleans airport?
On Level 1 at baggage claim. The airport's taxis, ride apps and shuttles each use separate zones, so we recommend the name-board meet and greet, which puts your chauffeur inside baggage claim with your name or an alias.
Which cruise terminal does my ship use in New Orleans?
It depends on the cruise line and sailing. Port NOLA lists Carnival parking at the Erato Street Cruise Terminal garage and Norwegian and Royal Caribbean parking at the 100 Poydras Street garage. Give us your ship name and we confirm the terminal.
When is Mardi Gras in 2027?
Fat Tuesday falls on February 9, 2027, and Carnival season starts on January 6. Book airport and hotel transfers early for that period.
When is Jazz Fest?
Jazz Fest is usually held from late April into early May. The 2026 festival ran April 23 to May 3; dates for the next festival are announced on the official site.
How far is Oak Alley Plantation from New Orleans?
About 55 to 60 miles (90 to 97 km), roughly an hour and ten minutes each way. Plan three to four hours at the site and a stop on the way back.
Can a limo go down Bourbon Street?
Not reliably. Streets in the French Quarter are narrow and some blocks close to vehicles, so your chauffeur drops you at the nearest legal point and collects you at an agreed corner.
Can you take a group from New Orleans to Houston or Atlanta?
Yes. Houston is about 350 miles (565 km), 5.5 to 6 hours. The booker shows a fixed fare for your route and vehicle before you confirm; an Executive Sprinter carries 12 to 14 passengers.
