Chauffeur service South Africa and private driver Africa
Africa is the region of this directory where distance matters most and where planning from home pays off the most. A road day between Johannesburg and the Kruger gates can take five or six hours. A hotel inside the Marrakech medina may be reachable only on foot from the nearest gate. A wine tour in the Cape winelands is short on the map and long in the afternoon light. This regional page in the LimousineWorldwideDirectory.com directory gathers the three city pages we have written, the safari-gateway and day-trip information that applies around them, and the visitor guides for the continent's best-known sites.
Booking runs through our worldwide desk, staffed 24/7. The driving is done by a vetted, licensed and commercially insured local operator from the directory, and the desk books, confirms and invoices the ride. You receive one confirmation, one invoice and one contact. Vehicles are late-model, fully maintained and inspected, no more than four model years old, with Rolls-Royce, Bentley and Maybach up to seven. Typical classes in this region are Mercedes-Benz E-Class, S-Class and V-Class or similar, Luxury SUVs, and Executive Sprinters for groups, with availability confirmed at booking.
What should you know before booking a private driver in Africa?

Know the distance, the road and the rules. Africa's distances are long, some old cities restrict cars, and wildlife reserves close their gates at night. A licensed private driver with a fixed fare quoted before you book removes the guesswork about who is allowed to collect you and where.
Three practical points apply almost everywhere. First, give the desk the exact name of your hotel, lodge or riad, because many are hard to find from the street. Second, share flight numbers for every leg so that delays reach your driver without a phone call. Third, tell us if a licensed guide is part of your plan. A chauffeur drives and can suggest stops, but a guide is a separate professional, and certain sites and reserves expect you to have one or to follow rules set by the authorities.
City pages
- Cape Town chauffeur service: the airport, the City Bowl and V&A Waterfront, the peninsula and the Stellenbosch winelands.
- Johannesburg chauffeur service: Sandton's business district, OR Tambo airport and the roads to Pretoria and the safari reserves.
- Marrakech chauffeur service: the airport, the walls of the medina, and day trips to Essaouira and the Atlas.
The airports hub lists the airports we cover elsewhere in the world. If your trip begins in Africa and you need a pickup somewhere not listed, enter the addresses in the booker. The desk will check whether a licensed local operator can cover it before you pay.
Cape Town and the peninsula
Cape Town International Airport is about 20 km east of the City Bowl, and the drive takes around 20 minutes outside the busiest hours. Two ways of getting into the city are worth comparing before you decide.
| How you go | Distance and time | Cost note | Who it suits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fixed-fare chauffeur | About 20 km, around 20 minutes by car | Fixed fare via the booker | Luggage, groups, late arrivals, anyone going straight to a meeting |
| MyCiTi bus | Same corridor, with stops along the way | Lowest | Light packers heading to a stop near their hotel |
| Taxi | About 20 km | Quoted per trip | Spontaneous trips with one or two bags |
If you are alone and traveling light, the bus is the lowest-cost option and works well on a straight run. The car wins when you carry luggage, travel as a group, or want your first hour to be useful.
The peninsula and the winelands are the real reason to hire a driver. Stellenbosch is about 50 km from the center, and the drive takes roughly 45 minutes. Cape Point is about 65 to 70 km one way, and takes between one hour and an hour and a half, depending on the season and queues. A round trip from the city is roughly 180 km. Our guides cover Table Mountain, Cape of Good Hope and Cape Point, the V&A Waterfront, the Stellenbosch winelands, Robben Island and Boulders Beach. The airport's own page covers terminal services.
South Africa drives on the left, which matters if you ever plan to self-drive, and not at all if a chauffeur is at the wheel.
Johannesburg, Sandton and the safari gateways
Johannesburg's business life is centered on Sandton, and its main airport is OR Tambo. The two are about 22 to 30 km apart depending on the exact point, and the Gautrain rail link connects them. The Gautrain is quick and reliable, so the honest comparison matters.

| Choice | Distance and time | Cost note | Who it suits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fixed-fare chauffeur | About 22 to 30 km, roughly 20 to 45 minutes depending on traffic | Fixed fare via the booker | Groups, luggage, a driver for the rest of the day |
| Gautrain | Under 15 minutes between OR Tambo and Sandton | Lowest | One traveler with a light bag, a hotel near the Sandton station |
| Taxi | About 22 to 30 km | Quoted per trip | Spontaneous trips |
If you are alone and your hotel is a short walk from the Gautrain's Sandton station, the train wins on both speed and cost. Consult the official Gautrain site for the current schedule. A chauffeur makes sense when you want your driver for several stops, when you arrive late, or when you are moving a group.
Johannesburg is also where many safari trips begin, and the two ways to reach Kruger National Park are very different. By road, SANParks lists a route to Crocodile Bridge at 475 km, and Paul Kruger Gate is a drive of more than 430 km, with five to six hours the usual allowance. The gate sits about 12 km from Skukuza camp, while Phabeni Gate is roughly 40 km away. Gates close at night, so an arrival plan matters. By air, a flight from Johannesburg to Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport takes about an hour, and a driver can meet you at the other end. For a long road day, a fixed-fare chauffeur gives you a private cabin in which to rest or work. See long-distance car service and the Kruger guide.
Other Johannesburg guides include the Apartheid Museum, which is a place of memory that rewards a slow visit.
Marrakech: the medina, the airport and the road to the coast
Marrakech Menara Airport is only about 6 to 9 km from the old city, depending on the point you choose, and a taxi ride to the medina takes roughly 15 minutes. The difficulty is the last few hundred meters. Vehicles cannot enter the narrow alleys of the medina, and cars do not cross Jemaa el-Fnaa. Riads inside the walls are typically reached on foot from a gate, with porters and hand carts taking the luggage. Tell the desk the exact name of your riad. We will confirm the nearest drop-off point and arrange for your driver to wait while you check in.
Road days from Marrakech use the motorway and the plain. Casablanca is about 240 km away, with sources ranging from 220 to 250 km, and the drive takes two and a half to three hours. Essaouira on the Atlantic coast is about 175 km, and takes two and a half to three hours. A chauffeur suits groups and families on either run, while a solo traveler with a light bag has bus and rail alternatives. The guides to Jemaa el-Fnaa, the Jardin Majorelle, the Hassan II Mosque, Fes el-Bali and Chefchaouen explain access and etiquette. For entry and travel planning, the Moroccan National Tourism Office runs Visit Morocco, and South African Tourism links to its visa and entry information from southafrica.net.
Egypt, Kenya, Zimbabwe, Zambia and Tanzania
Beyond the three city pages, the directory carries visitor guides to some of the continent's best-known places. They are written for the traveler who arrives by private car and wants to know what is practical. In Egypt, read the guides to the Pyramids of Giza, the Grand Egyptian Museum and the Valley of the Kings. In Kenya, the Giraffe Centre. On the Zambezi, Victoria Falls. In Zanzibar, Stone Town. The attractions hub lists all of them.
Where we have no dedicated city page, the booking process still works. Enter the pickup and drop-off in the booker. The desk checks whether a licensed, insured local operator is available, confirms the vehicle class and writes back with the fixed fare before you pay. If we cannot cover a trip safely and legally, we will say so and not guess.
Private aviation, lodges and discretion
Many travelers to Africa arrive by private aircraft or charter, and transfer to a lodge. The desk can coordinate a ground leg at the field. Read private jet car service for how FBO pickups work, and use the private aviation hub for the fields we describe elsewhere.

Chauffeurs never photograph clients or post about trips; an NDA can be signed on request and the booking can run under an alias. We provide no armed drivers or bodyguards, because this is a chauffeur service and not a security firm. Many principals bring their own security team to this region, and our chauffeurs work alongside it. That arrangement is straightforward: share the movement plan with the desk, and it can be passed to the team and the driver together.
Booking and tourist offices
Open the booker, enter the pickup and drop-off, add the flight number for airports and choose a vehicle class. A fixed fare is shown in the booker before you pay, which is why this directory prints no prices. Corporate accounts offer monthly invoicing, and trade accounts are open to travel agents, DMCs and hotel concierges. Official tourist offices and tourism boards can book for their visitors through a trade account, described on the Middle East and Africa tourist offices page. Other regions are in the worldwide directory, and the standard behind the service is described in why clients book with us.

Frequently asked questions
How far is Cape Town airport from the city center?
About 20 km, and around 20 minutes by car outside the busiest hours. The MyCiTi bus is the lowest-cost option for a single traveler with a light bag, while a chauffeur suits luggage and groups.
How far is Stellenbosch from Cape Town?
About 50 km from the city center, and roughly 45 minutes by car. Winelands days are usually planned as a full or half day with several tasting stops.
How far is Cape Point from Cape Town?
Roughly 65 to 70 km one way, and between one hour and an hour and a half, depending on traffic and queues. A round trip from the city is about 180 km.
Is the Gautrain better than a car from OR Tambo to Sandton?
For one traveler with a light bag and a hotel near the Sandton station, yes. The train takes under 15 minutes between the airport and Sandton. A chauffeur suits groups, luggage, late arrivals and multi-stop days.
How long is the drive from Johannesburg to Kruger?
Sources and SANParks give 430 to 475 km depending on the gate, and a drive of five to six hours to Paul Kruger Gate. Kruger's gates close at night, so plan the arrival. A flight to Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport takes about an hour.
Can a car take me to my riad in the Marrakech medina?
Not to the door in most cases. Vehicles cannot enter the narrow alleys, and porters with hand carts handle the final stretch from a gate. Give the desk the riad's name and we will confirm the best drop-off.
How far is Marrakech from Casablanca and Essaouira?
Casablanca is about 240 km, roughly 2.5 to 3 hours. Essaouira is about 175 km, also roughly 2.5 to 3 hours.
Which side of the road do they drive on in South Africa?
On the left. Your chauffeur handles it, so it only matters if you plan to self-drive.
Can you arrange a transfer to a safari lodge?
Tell the desk the lodge name, the flight and the date. We check whether a licensed local operator can cover the route, including any reserve gate times, and confirm the fixed fare before you pay.
