Port Everglades transportation from a chauffeur's seat
Port Everglades is a working deepwater harbor and a cruise complex in one, and for anyone planning a ride it has an unusual feature: Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport is next to it. The port itself says the airport is located next to the port. That sounds like it should make ground transport trivial, and on a quiet Tuesday it does. On a Saturday or Sunday with ships from several lines sailing, the picture changes, because the short hop is the same short hop for thousands of other guests.
LimousineWorldwideDirectory.com books Port Everglades transportation through a 24/7 desk. The ride itself is delivered by a vetted, licensed and commercially insured local chauffeur operator from our worldwide directory, confirmed and invoiced by the desk, with one confirmation and one point of contact for the entire trip.
Which terminal at Port Everglades is yours?
The port's own parking guide references cruise terminals 2, 4, 18, 19, 21, 25, 26 and 29. The port's address is 1850 Eller Drive, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33316. Two garages and four surface lots serve those berths:

- Heron Parking Garage serves Terminals 2 and 4.
- Palm Parking Garage serves Terminals 19, 21, 25, 26 and 29, with a shuttle between Terminal 29 and the garage.
- Lots A to D sit beside Terminals 18 and 19 and serve that end of the port.
Which line uses which terminal changes by season and by ship. The port describes Terminal 25 as the home of Celebrity's Edge-class ships after a renovation of more than $100 million, and it names Disney Cruise Line as its second year-round homeport. Other lines on the port's cruise-lines page include Princess, Holland America Line, Royal Caribbean International, Silversea, Viking, Crystal, the Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection and the Balearia ferry to the Bahamas. For the berth itself, use the number on your boarding document and give it to the desk when you book. The port's cruise page and cruise lines page are the references.
How far is Port Everglades from Fort Lauderdale airport and Miami airport?
Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International is about 5 km (3 mi) from the cruise terminals, normally a 10-minute drive. Miami International is roughly 40 km (25 mi) south, 35 to 60 minutes. Palm Beach International is about 70 km (43 mi) north, 50 to 80 minutes. A chauffeur holds a fixed fare for each.
Those are planning numbers. The port has three entrances, off interstates, highways and Florida's Turnpike, and the right one depends on where you start and which berth you need. Our operators drive this every day and know which gate is moving on a given morning. For flight-side details on the Fort Lauderdale end, see the Fort Lauderdale airport page, and for the Miami end the Miami International Airport page.
The "airport next door" trap, and when to skip a private car
Because FLL is so close, the honest advice is sometimes to skip the private car. A single traveler with one suitcase who lands in the afternoon before a morning embarkation can take a taxi or rideshare from arrivals and spend little. That is a fine plan. A chauffeur starts to make sense when:
- you are four or more people, or you have the oversized cruise luggage that two weeks away requires;
- you are arriving from Miami or Palm Beach, where the drive is no longer short;
- your schedule is tight, such as a flight landing close to your boarding window;
- you are a host moving guests who should not be left to a taxi line;
- you want a name on a board at arrivals and a driver who holds the car if baggage is slow.
On the return, the reverse applies. After disembarkation the airport is again close, but your cruise line sets the disembarkation window, customs clearance varies, and rebooked flights are a common source of stress. A chauffeur who has your flight number and a fixed pickup time can be at the curb when your group is called.
Port Everglades transfers compared

| Option | Typical time between FLL and the terminals | Cost level | Who it suits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Walk or short taxi | Under 15 minutes | Metered, lowest for one or two travelers | Light packers on a normal day |
| Rideshare | About 10 to 20 minutes | Surge-priced when ships empty or fill | Short rides with a flexible schedule |
| Cruise-line transfer | Varies, includes waiting for other guests | Priced by the cruise line | Guests who want a single booking with the ship |
| Shuttle bus or van | 20 to 45 minutes with stops | Low per person | Budget groups with time to spare |
| Private chauffeur | 10 to 20 minutes, door to terminal | Fixed fare via the booker | Families, groups, executives and anyone with fixed timing |
Since FLL and the port are so close, the lowest-cost choices are strong ones for short rides. Where private service wins is on longer legs from Miami or Palm Beach, or on days with a fixed schedule and a group.
What the curb at Port Everglades is like
Each terminal has porters who take checked luggage and a drop-off area at its entrance. Guests dropping bags then parking should look at the port's published garage and lot locations first, and chauffeur-driven guests should not park at all. The port's parking and terminal map page lists the following facts, which affect vehicle choice:
- The garages have a clearance of 7 feet (2.1 m). Tall vans and some SUVs with roof boxes cannot enter, which is why chauffeur drop-offs happen at the terminal curb.
- The port posts rates for parking with a daily maximum of $25 (as of 2026), and it does not take reservations or prepayment. That applies to guests driving themselves, not to a chauffeur drop-off.
- A free cell phone lot is provided where friends and relatives collecting passengers can wait until their party is ready.
If you are meeting a ship rather than boarding one, give the desk the berth number and the disembarkation group, so that the chauffeur positions correctly.
Embarkation day: arriving at the right moment
Cruise lines assign boarding windows, and the busiest hours at any terminal are those first windows after check-in opens. Arriving earlier than your appointed time can mean standing outside without shade, while arriving mid-window is usually calm. The plan we suggest to most guests is a mid-morning breakfast at the hotel, a chauffeur at the door with bags loaded, and arrival at the terminal in the middle of your window.
If you are flying in on the day of sailing, we are conservative. Allow a buffer for late arrivals and baggage claim, then add the drive. Ask the desk to set a pickup time and share your flight number; the operator tracks the flight, and we hold the car for 60 minutes after an international landing and 30 minutes after a domestic one without extra charge.
Disembarkation day and the flight home
On the way back, the ship docks, customs clears, and guests leave by group. A late-afternoon flight is the safest ticket. Cruise lines recommend flight times for a reason, and a morning departure from FLL can be a gamble even though the airport is just down the road. Your chauffeur meets you at the terminal; for port pickups the free waiting time is 15 minutes, and if your group is delayed, tell the desk and the operator adjusts.

If you want to extend the day, ask the chauffeur to hold the vehicle on an hourly basis. A few hours along the beach on A1A, lunch on Las Olas Boulevard, and a late flight is a very different farewell from a rushed curbside drop. The hourly chauffeur service page explains how hourly bookings work.

Choosing a vehicle for cruise luggage
Cruise bags are heavier and more numerous than business luggage, so size the vehicle to the bags first. An Executive Sedan (Mercedes-Benz E-Class or Cadillac CT6/Lyriq or similar) takes up to 3 passengers with 2 large and 2 cabin bags. A First Class Sedan (Mercedes-Benz S-Class, BMW 7 Series or similar) has the same capacity. A Luxury SUV (Cadillac Escalade, Chevrolet Suburban or GMC Yukon Denali or similar) carries up to 6 passengers and 5 to 6 large bags, and it is what we suggest for a family. An Executive Sprinter carries 12 to 14 passengers and 12 bags. Stretch limousines, mini-coaches and coaches are available on request, and the Maybach, Rolls-Royce and Bentley range is confirmed on request. Vehicles are late-model, fully maintained and inspected, and no more than four model years old (seven for Rolls-Royce, Bentley and Maybach).
Child, toddler and booster seats are available on request at booking. Most vehicles carry water and phone chargers. Look at the fleet page for more.
Make a day of South Florida
A cruise week bookends a trip, and a driver turns the two bookend days into something more than airport and hotel. From Port Everglades:
- Everglades National Park is roughly 100 km (62 mi) away by the nearest main visitor entrance and a full-day trip.
- South Beach is about 45 km (28 mi), 45 to 70 minutes, for an Art Deco afternoon.
- Worth Avenue in Palm Beach is about 75 km (47 mi), 55 to 80 minutes, for a shopping and lunch outing.
- Key West and the Overseas Highway is more than 300 km (190 mi), four to five hours, a long day and best with a one-way transfer.
Our private tours with driver page explains how those excursions are priced and planned through the booker.
Discretion, groups and trade accounts
Chauffeurs do not photograph clients or post about trips. NDAs are signed on request, and alias bookings keep names off boards and manifests. We are a chauffeur service, not a security company: there are no armed drivers or bodyguards, and the chauffeur works alongside your own security team. Corporate accounts with monthly invoicing and trade accounts for travel agents, destination management companies and concierges are available. Tourist offices and visitor bureaus can book chauffeur services for their visitors with LimousineWorldwideDirectory.com through a trade account.
For wider cruise planning, the cruise ports hub lists every port we cover, and cruise transfers explains the overall product. If your ship leaves from the other side of Florida, see the Port Canaveral page. Browse the North America directory for local operators.
Frequently asked questions
How far is Port Everglades from Fort Lauderdale airport?
About 5 km (3 mi), normally a 10-minute drive, though ships emptying and filling the terminals can add time.
How far is Port Everglades from Miami airport?
Roughly 40 km (25 mi), 35 to 60 minutes. Late-afternoon northbound traffic on I-95 is the usual delay.
Which Port Everglades terminal is my ship at?
The port uses terminals 2, 4, 18, 19, 21, 25, 26 and 29. Your boarding documents name yours, and berths can change, so tell the desk the number when you book.
Can I get a private car right to the terminal entrance?
Yes. Chauffeur drop-offs are made at the terminal curb. Remember that the port garages have a 7-foot (2.1 m) clearance, so tall vans do not use them.
Is there a free place for friends to wait when collecting me?
The port provides a free cell phone lot where drivers can wait until their passenger is ready to be picked up.
How early should I be at Port Everglades before the ship sails?
Follow the boarding window on your cruise documents. Arriving near the middle of that window is usually quiet, and arriving long before it tends to mean waiting outside.
Can you pick me up from a private jet at Palm Beach and take me to the ship?
Yes. See the Palm Beach private aviation page and give the desk your arrival time. The drive is about 70 km (43 mi), 50 to 80 minutes.
What does the airport pickup include?
Flight tracking on every airport pickup, 60 minutes of free waiting after an international landing and 30 minutes after a domestic one, plus an optional name-board meet-and-greet inside arrivals.
