How do I arrange Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix transportation?

Book a chauffeur for the days you need, share your hotel, your grandstand or yacht location and your flight or train details, and a vetted local operator plans around the race-weekend closures. Cars cannot enter the circuit streets, so the plan includes an agreed drop-off, a walking route and a meeting point afterward. Our 24/7 desk confirms and invoices.

Monaco is a principality of about two square kilometers wrapped around a harbor (visitor information is at VisitMonaco), and for one weekend each year its streets are the racetrack. The Formula 1 organizers state on the official ticketing site that driving into Monaco on race weekend is heavily restricted and that public transport is strongly recommended. That is the honest starting point for any Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix limo booking: a chauffeur is valuable on this weekend, but not in the way it is on a normal Monday. This page explains where the car helps, where the train is faster, and how to book early enough to get what you want.

When is the next Monaco Grand Prix?

The official Formula 1 ticketing page gives race weekend as 4 to 6 June 2027. The usual pattern is practice on the Friday, qualifying on the Saturday and the race on the Sunday afternoon, with session times published closer to the date. The same page warns that genuine tickets come only from Formula1.com, race promoters or appointed agents, and it cautions against fraudulent websites and suspicious messages. We do not sell race tickets; we provide transport.

Book transport as soon as you book the hotel. Race weekend on the Riviera is one of the most demanding periods of the year for hotels, restaurants and drivers, and the number of chauffeur cars that can be placed is limited by the closures, not by demand alone.

What actually happens to the roads?

The circuit uses the public roads of Monte Carlo and La Condamine, including the harbor front, the casino square and the tunnel section. In recent years, local reporting such as Monaco Life's travel guide to the 2024 race describes central roads closing early each morning until the end of that day's sessions, parking being banned along large parts of the route, and the tunnels being closed to traffic for the duration. Restrictions vary from year to year, and the Principality publishes the official notices a few weeks before the event.

For a client, that translates to three rules.

  • Plan to be dropped before the closures, not during them. A morning arrival into Monaco on Saturday or Sunday may be impossible by car after the roads close.
  • Expect to walk the last stretch. The chauffeur agrees the closest practical drop-off, and the walking route depends on your grandstand or hotel.
  • Plan the exit as carefully as the entrance. The crowd leaves at once after the race, and the roads reopen in stages.

The chauffeur also knows which streets typically reopen first, and where the car can wait. Your confirmation names the meeting point for each leg, and the chauffeur updates it by message on the day.

Distances for race week

Distances are approximate road distances; the drive times are typical for a normal day. On race weekend they can be much longer, and reports from past editions put the road journey between Nice and Monaco at two hours or more at the worst times.

TripApprox. distanceNormal drive time
Nice Côte d'Azur Airport to Monaco22 km (14 mi)30 to 45 min

The airport's own passenger site lists taxis, public transport and meet-and-greet services. Nice Côte d'Azur Airport is described on our Nice Côte d'Azur private aviation page, and the area overview is on the Nice and Monaco chauffeur service page.

The official ticketing page states that the Monaco-Monte Carlo station is about a 10-minute walk from the start-finish straight, and that direct, frequent trains run from Nice in around 20 minutes. If you are one person staying in Nice with a grandstand ticket and comfortable shoes, the train is the better answer on race day itself. Use a chauffeur for the legs where it genuinely helps: airport or private-aviation arrival, hotel transfer with luggage, an evening dinner in Monte Carlo or Èze, and the departure after the race.

Where to stay and how the car fits

Most visitors base themselves in Nice, Cap d'Ail, Èze, Beausoleil or Menton, and commute by train on race days. Those who stay in Monaco itself are inside the closure area, so check where your hotel's car entrance is and whether it is reachable on Saturday and Sunday. A chauffeur transfer with an agreed pickup at the hotel is simplest on Thursday and Friday and on the departure day. If your hotel is in the principality, tell us at booking; the chauffeur confirms how the hotel manages vehicle access on race days.

How a typical weekend is planned

A realistic plan for a pair of guests arriving at Nice and staying in Monaco looks like this:

  1. Thursday: Airport pickup at Nice, transfer to the hotel with luggage, dinner transfer to Èze.
  2. Friday: Short hop to the paddock area before the closures, or the train; chauffeur on standby for the evening.
  3. Saturday: Qualifying day by train or on foot; car for a late dinner.
  4. Sunday: No car for the race itself; the chauffeur meets you outside the closure area, or the next morning, with a time agreed once the roads reopen.
  5. Monday: Transfer to the airport or private-aviation terminal.

Each plan differs, which is why the desk builds itineraries, not just transfers. For flexible day hire see the hourly chauffeur service page, and for multi-leg trips the event transportation page.

Race weekend for private aviation guests

If you arrive by private aircraft, the private jet car service page explains how cars meet jets at the ramp. Nice is the usual gateway for the Principality, and the chauffeur stays with you from the aircraft step to the hotel door. Helicopter transfers run from Nice to the heliport in Monaco, and the same Monaco Life guide put the flight at about seven minutes in 2024; they are booked separately through a helicopter operator, and we can coordinate the car at either end. Given the traffic described above, many guests prefer that combination.

What else is worth seeing around the race?

If you have a free day before or after the race, these guides cover the closest sights, each with practical drop-off notes:

  • Monte Carlo Casino: the square outside is part of the circuit, so plan access for non-race days.
  • Eze Village: a hilltop village about 10 km (6 mi) from Monaco, popular for dinner.
  • Promenade des Anglais: the Nice seafront, a natural base for visitors.
  • Saint-Tropez: further along the coast, best taken as a full day outside race weekend.

For the other big spring event on the same coast, see the Cannes Film Festival page, and for the wider calendar the events hub. Another street race with similar issues is covered on the Las Vegas Grand Prix page.

Vehicle classes for race week

Classes are confirmed at booking and are "or similar". In Monaco and France we describe them by Mercedes-Benz model.

  • Executive Sedan (Mercedes-Benz E-Class or similar): up to 3 passengers, 2 large bags and 2 cabin bags.
  • First Class Sedan (Mercedes-Benz S-Class, BMW 7 Series or similar): up to 3 passengers, 2 large bags and 2 cabin bags.
  • Luxury SUV (Mercedes-Benz V-Class or comparable): for up to 6 passengers and 5 to 6 large bags, capacity confirmed at booking.
  • Executive Sprinter (Mercedes-Benz Sprinter): 12 to 14 passengers and 12 bags, for corporate groups.

Maybach, Rolls-Royce and Bentley are on request, with availability confirmed at booking; mini-coaches and coaches are also available. Child, toddler and booster seats are provided on request, and most vehicles carry water and phone chargers. All vehicles are late-model, maintained and inspected, no more than four model years old (Rolls-Royce, Bentley and Maybach up to seven). See the fleet page. Alcohol is never promised on board, since local law applies.

Corporate hospitality, discretion and groups

Race weekend is a client-entertainment event for many companies. A corporate account offers monthly invoicing and a single contact; see the corporate car service page. Chauffeurs do not photograph clients or post about trips, NDAs are signed on request, and alias bookings are available. We are a chauffeur service and not a security company: no armed drivers or bodyguards, though we work alongside a client's own security team. Official tourist offices, tourism boards and visitor centres can book chauffeur services for their visitors with LimousineWorldwideDirectory.com through a trade account. Travel agents, DMCs and hotel concierges can use the travel trade page.

Booking early and cancellations

Reserve as soon as your hotel and flights are fixed. Large events may carry a different cancellation deadline, which is stated on your confirmation. The standard terms for other bookings are: more than 72 hours' notice, no charge; 72 hours or less, 10%; 48 hours or less, 50%; 24 hours or less or a no-show, 100%, measured from the scheduled pickup time. We quote no prices on this page. The online booker shows the exact fixed fare for your addresses and vehicle before you confirm. Browse the Europe directory for other destinations and the FAQ for general answers.

Frequently asked questions

When is the 2027 Monaco Grand Prix?

The official Formula 1 ticketing page lists race weekend as 4 to 6 June 2027. Session times are published closer to the date.

Can a car drive me to the circuit on race day?

Not into the circuit streets. The official ticketing page says driving into Monaco on race weekend is heavily restricted. The chauffeur agrees a drop-off outside the closure area and the walking route to your seat.

How far is Nice Airport from Monaco?

About 22 km (14 mi), normally 30 to 45 minutes by road. On race weekend the journey can take much longer, and the train from Nice takes around 20 minutes.

Is the train better than a chauffeur on race day?

For the final leg into Monaco, often yes. The station is about a 10-minute walk from the start-finish straight. Use a chauffeur for airport, hotel and evening legs and for departure after the race.

Can you book a helicopter transfer?

Helicopter flights between Nice and Monaco, reported at about seven minutes, are run by separate operators. We can coordinate the car at either end of the flight.

Where should I stay for the Monaco Grand Prix?

Many visitors stay in Nice, Èze, Cap d'Ail, Beausoleil or Menton and take the train on race days. Staying inside Monaco puts you within the closure area, so confirm vehicle access with your hotel.

Do you sell Monaco Grand Prix tickets?

No. Tickets should come from Formula1.com, race promoters or appointed agents. We provide chauffeur transport only.

What is the cancellation policy?

Large events may carry a different deadline, stated on your confirmation. Otherwise: more than 72 hours' notice no charge, 72 hours or less 10%, 48 hours or less 50%, 24 hours or less or no-show 100%.

How do I get a fare for race weekend?

Open the online booker, enter pickup, destination, dates and times and choose a vehicle. It shows the exact fixed fare before you confirm.
