How do I book a chauffeur service in Riyadh?
Enter your pickup, destination, date and vehicle class in the online booker, and you see a fixed fare for those exact addresses before you confirm. A vetted, licensed and insured Riyadh operator then drives the trip. Our worldwide desk handles confirmation, changes and the invoice, 24 hours a day.
Riyadh is a city of long straight roads and very little pedestrian space. Almost every business trip, dinner and site visit is made by car, and the distance between the airport, the financial district and the old town is larger than first-time visitors expect. A chauffeur who knows which gate of a compound opens for which car, and how the evening queues form on the ring roads, saves hours over a week.
LimousineWorldwideDirectory.com does not own vehicles or offices in Saudi Arabia. We list vetted, licensed and commercially insured chauffeur operators in our Middle East directory, and our desk books, confirms and invoices every ride. You get one booking, one confirmation, one invoice and one point of contact, whatever hour your flight lands.
How far is King Khalid International Airport from Riyadh?

King Khalid International Airport (RUH) is about 35 km (22 miles) north of central Riyadh. The drive to Olaya or the Kingdom Centre takes 30 to 45 minutes, to the Diplomatic Quarter about 45 to 60 minutes, and to KAFD about 20 to 30 minutes, longer at peak times.
Riyadh Airports Company operates the airport, which has several terminals; your chauffeur is given the terminal from your flight number and tracks the landing, so the pickup moves with the flight. The operator's own Riyadh Airports Company site points to the airport's official channels for terminal and airline allocation, which change between seasons. International arrivals include 60 minutes of free waiting after landing, and a meet and greet with a name board in arrivals can be added, with an alias for privacy.
| From King Khalid Airport to | Distance | Typical drive time | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| KAFD (financial district) | 25 km / 16 mi | 20 to 30 minutes | Towers, banks, conference venues |
| Olaya and Kingdom Centre | 35 km / 22 mi | 30 to 45 minutes | Hotels, malls, offices |
| Diplomatic Quarter | 55 km / 34 mi | 45 to 60 minutes | Embassies; checkpoint at the gates |
| Diriyah | 40 to 45 km / 25 to 28 mi | 35 to 50 minutes | Via the northern ring road |
| Old Riyadh (Masmak Fortress, Al Batha) | 45 km / 28 mi | 40 to 60 minutes | Historic center |
Read the broader airport car service and airports hub pages for how a pickup works. Business aviation arrives through the airport's general aviation facilities; give the desk your handler and tail number and see the private jet car service page.
A city built for cars: roads, roadworks and rush hours
Riyadh's main corridors are King Fahd Road, Olaya Street, the Northern Ring Road, Makkah Road and the eastern and western ring roads. The Royal Commission for Riyadh City, which publishes its transport programs on rcrc.gov.sa, lists a Main and Ring Roads Development Program covering about 700 km of roads under development, so expect works and lane changes on some corridors.
The Saudi working week runs Sunday to Thursday. Mornings from about 7 to 9 and afternoons from 4 to 8 are heavy, and Thursday evening is the busiest night for dining and shopping. Friday and Saturday are the weekend; Friday morning is easy, and the hour around midday prayers is quiet. A fixed pickup time that avoids the afternoon peak makes a visible difference.
The Riyadh Metro now operates alongside the city bus network. The commission reports more than 470 million passengers on the Metro and bus system up to the third quarter of 2026. It is useful for a solo commuter with a station at both ends, but for most visitors with luggage, appointments and heat, a car remains the dependable choice.
Business in Riyadh: ministries, KAFD and the conference calendar
Meetings cluster in a few places: the King Abdullah Financial District (KAFD), Olaya and the Kingdom Centre and Faisaliah corridor, the ministries around the old city, and the Diplomatic Quarter. Each has its own security routine.
- KAFD. Controlled vehicle entry, with drop-off at tower lobbies. Give the desk the tower and the host's name.
- The Diplomatic Quarter. Checkpoints at the gates; the host must register your name in advance.
- Ministries and government compounds. Pickup and waiting areas are set by security; the driver will follow the guards' instructions.
Large events run through the year. The Future Investment Initiative is usually held in October, and the LEAP technology conference in February; organizers publish dates, so confirm them on the event site. See conference transportation, roadshow car service and the conferences hub. Companies can open a corporate account with monthly invoicing and alias bookings; see corporate car service.
Diriyah, At-Turaif and a Riyadh evening
Diriyah, the birthplace of the first Saudi state, lies about 20 km (12 miles) northwest of central Riyadh, 25 to 40 minutes by car. The At-Turaif district of mud-brick buildings is a UNESCO World Heritage site, and the neighboring Bujairi Terrace is a dining area. Read the full At-Turaif in Diriyah guide for entry arrangements, timed visits and where the car waits. Evenings are busy and parking close to the gates is limited, so agree a pickup point with your driver before you go in. For a wider look at what to see, browse the attractions directory.

Riyadh Season, a large entertainment program, normally runs from the fall into the spring, with zones such as Boulevard Riyadh City drawing crowds on weekend evenings. Roads near event zones fill after sunset, so allow 20 to 40 extra minutes for the return leg.
Edge of the World and the desert: day trips by 4x4
The cliff known as the Edge of the World, on the Tuwaiq escarpment, lies about 90 km (56 miles) northwest of Riyadh. Plan roughly 1 hour 30 minutes to the end of the paved road, then a track that suits a high-clearance 4x4 and not a sedan. Read the Edge of the World guide for timing and conditions. The desert is exposed and hot for much of the year; sunset trips need a plan for the return in darkness.
Hegra (Mada'in Salih) in AlUla is more than 1,000 km from Riyadh, so it is a flight and a local transfer, not a drive; see the Hegra guide and ask the desk to meet you at AlUla. Group transfers by Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and day hire are covered in sprinter van with driver and hourly chauffeur service.
Districts, hotels and where the car waits
Riyadh has no single center, so a hotel's district tells you most of what a day will look like.
- Olaya and Al Wurud. Towers, malls and hotels along Olaya Street and King Fahd Road. The Kingdom Centre and Faisaliah Tower are the landmarks, and most corporate hotels sit within a short drive.
- KAFD and Al Aqeeq. The financial district to the north, with its own road grid and controlled access.
- Al Malqa, Hittin and the north. Residential compounds and newer restaurants, close to the airport road.
- The Diplomatic Quarter. Embassies and a few hotels inside a gated area on the west side of the city.
- Old Riyadh. Masmak Fortress, Al Batha and the National Museum district, with narrow streets and limited parking.
Most hotels and compounds have a guarded entrance with a vehicle check, so a chauffeur arrives with your name and a reference. Tell the desk about any special gate, and we will add it to the confirmation. If you travel with family or a team, a Luxury SUV or an Executive Sprinter keeps everyone in one car; see the fleet page for capacities.
Trains, cruise and what is not here
Riyadh is inland, so there is no cruise port; the nearest cruise calls are on the Red Sea and Gulf coasts, far from the capital. Saudi Arabia Railways runs passenger trains between Riyadh and the Eastern Province, and a car is still the usual way to reach the station and the final destination. For other cities, see the cruise ports hub and the train stations hub.

Weekends, Ramadan, dress and etiquette
The Kingdom's weekend is Friday and Saturday. During Ramadan, expected in February and March 2027 with exact dates set by moon sighting, eating, drinking and smoking in public in daylight are prohibited. Offices run shorter hours, restaurants reopen after sunset, and the nights are lively. Plan important meetings for the morning, and expect traffic to ease just before the evening meal and peak again afterward. The Eid holidays that follow are very busy for the airport.
Dress modestly in public: shoulders and knees covered. Visit Saudi, the tourism authority, publishes current visitor guidance on its official site, and you should check it for the latest visa and eVisa rules for your nationality before you fly, because requirements change. Alcohol is prohibited in Saudi Arabia, and we never promise drinks on board; local law applies. Do not photograph government or security buildings, and ask before you photograph people.
Long-distance runs from Riyadh
| Route | Distance | Typical drive time | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Riyadh to Diriyah | 20 km / 12 mi | 25 to 40 minutes | Northwest of the center |
| Riyadh to Edge of the World | 90 km / 56 mi | About 1 hour 30, then off-road | 4x4 for the final track |
| Riyadh to Buraydah | 330 km / 205 mi | 3 to 3 hours 30 | Date farms and the Qassim region |
| Riyadh to Dammam and Khobar | 400 km / 249 mi | 4 hours | Eastern Province highway; flights also run |
| Riyadh to Jeddah | 950 km / 590 mi | 9 to 10 hours | Most travelers fly; drive only by arrangement |
Mecca's central area is closed to non-Muslims, and the desk will advise on the boundary if your route heads west. Cross-border trips, for example toward Bahrain or Qatar, follow border rules; tell the desk early. See long-distance car service.
Taxi, rideshare, Metro or chauffeur: an honest comparison
| Option | Typical time from RUH to Olaya | Cost note | Who it suits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Taxi | 30 to 45 minutes | Metered | Short trips, easy queue |
| Rideshare | 30 to 45 minutes | Surge-priced at peak | Solo travelers who book on a phone |
| Metro and bus | Longer; transfer needed | Lowest | Residents, light luggage |
| Rental car | 30 to 45 minutes | Daily rate plus parking | Self-drivers who know the roads |
| Private chauffeur | 30 to 45 minutes | Fixed fare via the booker | Groups, late arrivals, executives, VIPs |
If you are traveling alone with a carry-on, a ride-hailing app is fine. A chauffeur wins when you carry luggage, have meetings back to back, travel with family or want a driver already waiting at the compound gate. See why book with us and the fleet for vehicle classes.
Private clients, discretion and security
Chauffeurs do not photograph clients or post about trips, and NDAs are signed on request. Alias bookings, a consistent driver and flexible hours suit private-office and family-office clients; see HNWI and family-office chauffeur and executive chauffeur service. We are a chauffeur service, not a security company: no armed drivers and no bodyguards. We work alongside your own security team. Tourist offices, DMCs and concierges can book through a trade account; see travel trade and tourist offices in the Middle East and Africa.
