Two venues, one week: the geography problem
Most conferences have a single address. Milan Design Week has two, and they are not close. The Salone del Mobile.Milano takes place at Fiera Milano in Rho, on the north-west edge of the city. The Fuorisalone, the city-wide programme of showrooms, installations and parties, takes place in Brera, Tortona, Isola, Lambrate and dozens of courtyards in between. The distance from the fair to the center is about 14 km (9 mi), which is half an hour or more in week traffic, and that single fact decides how a good week is planned.
A Milan Design Week car service exists to manage that split. LimousineWorldwideDirectory.com is run from a 24/7 booking desk. A vetted, licensed and commercially insured local chauffeur operator from our worldwide directory delivers every ride, and the desk confirms and invoices it. One booking, one confirmation, one invoice, one point of contact, for an architect, a brand director or a studio with twelve people in town.
What is the best way to get around Milan Design Week?

Plan each day in blocks: the fair at Rho in the morning, the city showrooms in the afternoon. A chauffeur links the two without taxi queues, about 14 km (9 mi) apart. The Metro M1 to Rho Fiera is the low-cost choice for the fair itself.
The official Salone del Mobile site lists Metro line M1 (the red line) running to Rho-Fiera, the last stop, so the fair is easy to reach by rail from the center. The challenge is the movement between venues and the evening, not the first journey.
Dates: Salone del Mobile and Fuorisalone 2027
The Salone del Mobile.Milano returns for its 65th edition at Fiera Milano Rho on 13 to 18 April 2027, according to the organizer, and the Fuorisalone lists its own programme from 12 to 18 April 2027, with the 2027 theme "Design In Relation". The organizer's visitor page says the fair is reserved for operators in the sector on the working days, with the general public admitted on Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 April, and a visiting window of 9:30 to 18:30. Children under 10 are not admitted on trade days.
The Salone's own press release for the 2026 edition reported 316,342 visitors from 167 countries, with 68% of trade visitors international. That is the scale the road network has to absorb on the busy days, and it explains why a taxi rank at Rho or at a Brera showroom can have a long queue at 6 pm.
Distances: airports, stations and districts to Fiera Milano Rho
| Route to Fiera Milano Rho | Distance | Typical drive time |
|---|---|---|
| Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP) | about 40 km (25 mi) | 35 to 50 minutes |
| Milan Linate Airport (LIN) | about 25 to 35 km (16 to 22 mi) | 35 to 60 minutes |
| Milano Centrale station | about 14 km (9 mi) | 25 to 45 minutes |
| Duomo and Galleria | about 14 km (9 mi) | 25 to 45 minutes |
| Brera design district | about 13 km (8 mi) | 25 to 45 minutes |
| Tortona district | about 12 km (7.5 mi) | 25 to 40 minutes |
| Isola | about 12 km (7.5 mi) | 25 to 40 minutes |
| Lambrate | about 16 km (10 mi) | 30 to 50 minutes |
Times assume normal weekday traffic. On a Salone morning the approach roads to the fair are the slowest part, and the motorways that serve it, the A4, the A8 and A9 connections and the Tangenziale Nord and Ovest, are busy. The arrival-side detail is on the Milan Malpensa airport page, and the city guide is the Milan chauffeur service page.
How the fair's own transport works
The organizer's pages describe several ways to reach and move around Rho. M1 reaches Rho-Fiera as the last stop, with interchanges at Cadorna, Loreto, Duomo, San Babila and Lotto. Regional and suburban trains (lines S5, S6 and S11 from Porta Garibaldi or Cadorna, and regional trains from Centrale) stop at Rho-Fiera station, and a walk from the station to the East gate is about five minutes. A free "Circolare Fiera" shuttle connects all entrance gates on exhibition days, and there are about 10,000 parking spaces, the largest area being near the West Gate (Porta Ovest). The how to get there page lists the airport options, including Malpensa Express and shuttle buses.

For many visitors that is enough. The honest comparison follows.
| Option | To Rho from the center | Cost note | Who it suits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Metro M1 to Rho-Fiera | About 30 to 35 minutes from the Duomo area | Lowest | Visitors staying near the red line, fair only |
| Suburban train S5, S6, S11 | About 10 to 20 minutes from Porta Garibaldi or Cadorna | Lowest | Fair-only days |
| Taxi | 25 to 45 minutes | Metered; long queues late afternoon | Single travelers |
| Rideshare | 25 to 45 minutes | Surge-priced at peaks | Short unplanned trips |
| Pre-booked chauffeur | 25 to 45 minutes | Fixed fare via the booker | Groups, brand teams, VIP clients, multi-stop days |
If you are going to Rho and back and nowhere else, take the train or the Metro. A chauffeur wins when your day includes showroom appointments in two districts, when you carry samples, or when you travel as a group with a client who should not be left on a platform.
Where a private car can stop at the fair
The fair has multiple entrances and a large car-park system. The organizer lists a West Gate with the main parking, and a "Circolare Fiera" bus that serves all gates. For a chauffeur, the useful question is which gate is nearest your hall, because the pavilions are spread along a long central boulevard and a wrong gate means a long walk. Tell the desk the hall number, the stand or the appointment, and the operator confirms the gate, the stopping point and the return pick-up before the day.
Press have separate hours, from 8:30, according to the organizer, which matters if your team includes journalists. The conference transportation guide explains how multi-day delegations are organized.
The city side: showrooms, courtyards and limited traffic zones
The Fuorisalone is concentrated in a handful of districts. The official Fuorisalone site names Brera, with the Brera Design District, and the 5VIE circuit, which returns to Palazzo Litta on Corso Magenta for 2027; other districts such as Tortona, Isola and Lambrate also host programmes. Streets in these districts are narrow, some are pedestrian in the evening, and the center is covered by Milan's restricted-traffic and low-emission zones, known as Area C and Area B. The rules and hours of these zones change, so check the city's official pages; our chauffeur operator knows them and plans the approach so that you are dropped at the right corner.
A practical rule: a car is a delivery service between districts, not a parking solution inside them. The chauffeur drops you at the closest practical point, waits nearby, and returns on a text. The Milan Cathedral guide and the Last Supper guide apply the same principle to the city's best-known sights; the Last Supper is a timed-ticket visit that has to be booked ahead.
Vehicles for design teams
Mercedes-Benz E-Class (Executive Sedan) and S-Class (First Class Sedan) each take up to 3 passengers with 2 large and 2 cabin bags. A Mercedes-Benz V-Class or Luxury SUV suits a team of up to 6 with 5 to 6 large bags, the right class when samples or portfolio cases travel with you. An Executive Sprinter (Mercedes-Benz Sprinter) carries 12 to 14 with 12 bags, and mini-coach and coach are available on request, as are Maybach, Rolls-Royce and Bentley, with availability confirmed at booking. Models are always 'or similar' and are confirmed at booking; every vehicle is late-model, fully maintained and inspected. Water and phone chargers are provided in most vehicles, and a child, toddler or booster seat can be requested at booking. See the fleet page.

Samples and furniture are not luggage. Large pieces, display units and crates move through freight and courier firms. A chauffeur car carries people and their bags, and the desk tells you whether your cases fit before the day.
A day that works
Morning. Pickup at the hotel at 8:00 for the fair, about 14 km (9 mi), 25 to 45 minutes. Drop at the gate nearest your hall by 9:00, before the 9:30 opening.
Midday. Lunch and meetings inside the fair. The car is not needed here.
Mid-afternoon. Recall the car at 15:30 for a run to Tortona or Brera, 12 to 13 km (7.5 to 8 mi), 25 to 45 minutes.
Evening. Showroom openings and dinner, with the car staying nearby and moving you between districts. A late return.
For multi-day clients, the hourly chauffeur service keeps one driver with the team, and a corporate car service account puts all rides on one monthly invoice.
Airports, arrivals and private aviation
Flight tracking comes with every airport pickup; free waiting after landing is 60 minutes for international arrivals and 30 for domestic. A name-board meet-and-greet inside arrivals is available as an add-on, with an alias on request. For private flights, the private aviation hub lists related FBO pages. Visitors from outside the Schengen area should check the EU's ETIAS page for the status of travel authorization, since the Entry/Exit System has been in full operation since April 2026.
Discretion, trade accounts and security
Chauffeurs never photograph clients or post about trips; NDAs and alias bookings are available on request, which helps when an unreleased collection or a client's name is sensitive. Trade accounts exist for travel agents, DMCs and hotel concierges. The service is chauffeuring only, so there are no armed drivers and no bodyguards. Where security staff travel with a client, the chauffeur works alongside them.
Planning checklist and cancellation terms
- Book airport pickups and the first-day run to Rho early.
- Plan days in blocks, with the fair and the city on different halves of the day.
- Tell the desk the hall, the district and the time of each appointment.
- Share flight numbers for tracking.
- Plan Sunday and Monday departures early.
Cancellation: more than 72 hours' notice is free of charge; 72 hours or less carries 10%; 48 hours or less 50%; 24 hours or less or a no-show 100%, measured from the scheduled pickup time. Large events may carry a different deadline, which is stated on your confirmation.
