Start with the calendar, not the map

Gardens by the Bay is the sort of place where the date matters more than the directions. Its two cooled conservatories, the Floral Fantasy hall, the OCBC Skyway and the Supertree Observatory each close for one whole day a month for maintenance, and the days differ from one attraction to the next. The venue publishes the full list on its opening-hours page. At the time of writing, for example, the page shows Cloud Forest closed on 26 October and 17 November 2026, Floral Fantasy closed on 3 November and 1 December, the OCBC Skyway closed on 4 November and the Supertree Observatory closed on 5 November.

That is why a Gardens by the Bay private tour with driver begins with a short check on the closures for your day, then a decision about which parts to see. Our 24/7 desk books a vetted, licensed and commercially insured local chauffeur operator from our worldwide directory, with one confirmation, one invoice and one point of contact. The operator drives; you choose the order in which the glass domes, the Supertree Grove and the waterfront fall.

How do you get to Gardens by the Bay by car?

Stunning view of Supertree Grove with lush greenery and a tranquil pond in Singapore's Gardens by the Bay

Gardens by the Bay is about 18 to 20 km (11 to 12 mi) from Changi Airport, usually 20 to 30 minutes by car, and 10 to 15 minutes from most central hotels. Cars use Marina Gardens Drive, where the basement car park at the main entrance is accessed only from that road.

From Changi the route is the same as for Marina Bay Sands: west on the East Coast Parkway and then into the Marina area. The last few hundred metres matter more than the highway. The venue's official getting here page lists four car parks: the Main Entrance basement car park with 420 lots (accessed via Marina Gardens Drive only), The Meadow open-air car park with 284 lots, Bayfront Plaza with 172 lots and electric-vehicle chargers, and the Bay East Garden car park with 59 lots. The first three are listed as open from 5 am to 2 am; Bay East Garden closes at midnight. As of 2026 the page gives a parking rate of SGD 0.035 per minute, capped at SGD 30 per day.

Our Singapore Changi chauffeur service page covers arrivals in detail, and the Singapore chauffeur service page describes hourly hire in the city.

Where a chauffeur sets you down

The official page does not name a taxi or private-car drop-off point, which is a useful reminder that the answer depends on which attraction you are visiting. In practice the options look like this:

  • Main Entrance side: the basement car park gives sheltered access, and a chauffeur can set down at the entrance and then park or wait nearby.
  • Bayfront Plaza: this car park sits next to the Bayfront Pavilion entrance, close to the coach drop-off, which makes it the natural choice for larger groups or a Sprinter.
  • Bay East Garden: the quietest approach, good for a waterfront stroll or a late evening pickup when the main entrances are busy.

Tell the desk which attraction comes first, and we will confirm the set-down with the operator. If you are travelling with luggage because you have come straight from the airport, say so at booking so that the vehicle is sized correctly. The Executive Sedan takes up to three passengers and a mix of large and cabin bags; the Luxury SUV is the sensible choice for a family with strollers.

What is free and what needs a ticket

A surprising amount of the garden costs nothing. According to the official things-to-do page, the Art Sculptures, Bay East Garden, the Dragonfly and Kingfisher Lakes and the Far East Organization Children's Garden are free admission. Supertree Grove, the signature cluster of vertical gardens, is also an open area where you can walk below the structures without a ticket, though the elevated walkway and the observatory are ticketed.

The paid attractions are the Flower Dome, Cloud Forest, Floral Fantasy, the OCBC Skyway and the Supertree Observatory. The venue sells them through its own ticket site, and the things-to-do page links to it. I will not quote prices here because they change; check the site before you go, buy there rather than through resellers, and keep the booking reference on your phone for the entrance.

The published hours are 9 am to 9 pm for the Flower Dome, Cloud Forest, OCBC Skyway and Supertree Observatory, and 10 am to 9 pm for Floral Fantasy. Last admission is earlier, between 8 and 8:30 pm depending on the attraction, with Cloud Forest the earliest at 8 pm. The free outdoor areas keep longer hours; the Art Sculptures and the lakes are listed as open from 5 am to 2 am, and Bay East Garden is open around the clock.

Reading the evening: the show and the lights

Garden Rhapsody is the evening show at Supertree Grove, staged daily at 7:45 pm and 8:45 pm, according to the official site. It combines music and lighting across the Supertrees, which are between roughly 25 and 50 metres tall. You do not need a ticket to watch from the ground, but the nearer you stand the more you look up, so a spot on the edge of the grove or on the connecting bridge gives a better composition.

Plan around the crowd rather than the clock. People arrive from the surrounding hotels and the MRT in the half hour before the first show, and the paths narrow at the grove. If you want to avoid the surge, watch the second show and have the chauffeur wait at a pre-agreed lot, which also gives you time for dinner nearby.

For one traveller arriving with a day pack, the MRT is a good choice and the lowest-cost one. The official page lists Gardens by the Bay station (TE22, Exit 1) and Bayfront (CE1/DT16, Exit B with an underground linkway), and from Bayfront you cross the Dragonfly Bridge or Meadow Bridge. A chauffeur earns its place with luggage, children, mixed ages or a carefully timed evening.

A four-hour chauffeured plan

  1. Late afternoon arrival. Be dropped at the main entrance and head to the conservatory you prefer; allow about 90 minutes for one and 2.5 hours for both.
  2. Skyway or Observatory. Take the elevated walkway or the observatory near sunset, as long as it is not on its monthly closure.
  3. Dinner or a light meal. The venue has restaurants and stalls, or you can leave for the Marina Bay Sands side.
  4. Garden Rhapsody. Watch the 7:45 pm or 8:45 pm show from the grove.
  5. Pickup. The car meets you at the lot agreed earlier, away from the main exit.

The walk from here to the neighbouring estate is also easy: see our Marina Bay Sands guide for how the two combine. If you want a second day on the south coast, Sentosa Island is about 12 km (7.5 mi) away by road and takes 20 to 30 minutes in normal traffic.

Choosing between the conservatories if time is short

Most visitors cannot do everything in one evening, so decide what you actually want to see. The Flower Dome is a large, bright, cool hall of plants from drier climates and tends to suit people who like open space and seasonal flower displays. Cloud Forest is the more dramatic of the two: a tall indoor mountain covered in ferns and orchids, with a waterfall at its centre and walkways that wind around and through the mist. Floral Fantasy is smaller and more decorative, built around colourful floral installations, and it opens an hour later in the morning than the two domes.

If you only have 90 minutes, choose one conservatory and the Garden Rhapsody show. If you have a full evening, start with Cloud Forest while it is still bright outside, move to the Skyway or Observatory for the light, and finish at the grove. Families with younger children often swap the Observatory for the free Children's Garden, which the official page lists as open Thursday to Sunday from 9 am to 7 pm. Check the closure calendar first, because the Observatory and the conservatories do not close on the same day.

A short stop between flights

Because the garden sits only a short drive from the expressway, it works as a layover stop. A traveller with a long wait at Changi can be collected from arrivals, driven to the bay, given two or three hours in the grove and the nearest conservatory, and returned in time to check in again. Keep the larger bags in the vehicle with the chauffeur; the cleanest arrangement is to avoid carrying luggage around the garden at all. Allow a generous margin for the return leg, since the evening peak and the show crowd can add 20 minutes or more to the run back to the airport. The desk tracks your flight and can move the pickup if a departure is delayed.

When it rains

Rain is the rule rather than the exception for a few months of the year, and in Singapore it can arrive suddenly in the afternoon. The conservatories are indoors, while the outdoor Grove is less pleasant in a downpour; check the venue's site for any change to the show in bad weather. A chauffeur with an umbrella and a car parked close to the exit makes the change of weather a small matter, not a reason to abandon the evening.

Photography, tripods and conduct

Tripods and camera stands are not permitted in Floral Fantasy, according to the venue, so leave the equipment in the vehicle or at the cloakroom. Bring a light waterproof layer for the conservatories; the Cloud Forest holds a cool, misty microclimate, and the Flower Dome is air-conditioned to a temperate level, so you will feel the difference between the outdoor heat and the interior. Closed-toe shoes are sensible for the Skyway, and sunscreen and a hat for the Grove in the daytime.

Our chauffeurs do not photograph clients or post about trips. If you need a quiet, discreet visit, the desk can book an alias on the pickup board and plan the approach so you can avoid the main crowds.

Accessibility

The official getting-here page does not describe wheelchair access in detail, so confirm lifts and routes with the venue for your own needs. It does list accessible parking lots at each of the four car parks, namely four at the main basement, three at The Meadow, six at Bayfront Plaza and two at Bay East Garden. Ask for a wheelchair-accessible vehicle when booking, and the desk will confirm availability with the local operator.

Construction notes for 2026

The venue reports that bridge construction between Bay South and Bay East began on 4 May 2026. Cyclists have no access along the Waterfront Promenade, while pedestrians can still pass with a slight diversion. That does not affect cars, but it changes the walking route if you plan a stroll from the Bay East side, so allow a few extra minutes.

Pairing it with the rest of the region

Gardens by the Bay is one of several garden and skyline stops across Asia. Browse the Asia-Pacific directory and the wider attractions hub to see what else the desk covers, or look at the private tour with a driver page if you want a custom itinerary. For official planning information about Singapore, the Singapore Tourism Board site is the starting point, and the Gardens' own things-to-do page holds the current opening hours and show times.

Tourist offices, tourism boards, convention and visitor bureaus and visitor centres can book chauffeur services for their visitors with LimousineWorldwideDirectory.com through a trade account.
