Most attractions ask you to arrive sometime in the morning. Georgia Aquarium asks you to arrive in a window. Its ticketing is timed, the tickets carry a date, and the garage beside it is built for cars that stand under 6 ft 8 in. Those three facts set the logistics of the day, and they are the reason a Georgia Aquarium private tour with driver is a practical booking rather than a luxury.
This guide is built from the aquarium's own pages: its directions and parking page, its frequently asked questions and its visitor guide. Where the aquarium publishes nothing, such as a drop-off point for chauffeured cars, we say so and explain how we handle it.
How do you get to Georgia Aquarium by car?
Georgia Aquarium is at 225 Baker Street NW in downtown Atlanta. From Hartsfield-Jackson airport it is about 16 km (10 miles), typically 20 to 40 minutes via I-85 and I-75. The attached garage is entered from Luckie Street or Ivan Allen Jr. Boulevard.
The aquarium gives 357 Luckie Street NW as the navigation address for its garage and lists a second entrance at 242 Ivan Allen Jr. Blvd NW. The main visitor entrance is on Baker Street, so the garage address and the front door are different places. Your chauffeur has both loaded.
Drive times from the airport and around Atlanta
Times are for off-peak weekday conditions. Atlanta's connectors back up on weekday mornings and evenings, and event days at nearby venues add more.

| From | Distance by road | Typical drive | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International (ATL) | about 16 km (10 miles) | 20 to 40 minutes | Our Atlanta airport page explains pickups |
| Midtown Atlanta | about 5 km (3 miles) | 10 to 20 minutes | Short run on the Connector or surface streets |
| Buckhead | about 12 km (7.5 miles) | 20 to 35 minutes | Peachtree corridor or I-85 south |
| Sandy Springs and Perimeter | about 24 km (15 miles) | 30 to 60 minutes | GA-400 and I-85 are the pinch points |
| Alpharetta | about 40 km (25 miles) | 45 to 80 minutes | GA-400 south |
Hartsfield-Jackson has separate domestic and international terminals, and the pickup is arranged by terminal. Give us your flight number at booking and the desk tracks it, with 60 minutes of free waiting after an international landing and 30 minutes after a domestic one, so a late arrival does not cost you the car. If your aquarium window is the same afternoon, be realistic about immigration and baggage time on an international arrival, and book the window at least three hours after landing.
For a wider view of the city, our Atlanta chauffeur service page covers the other services we book, and the North America directory lists neighboring cities.
The garage: rules a chauffeur works around
On its directions and parking page the aquarium states that parking for non-members is $30 for the day and $20 for members, as of 2026. The garage is cashless, so a card or digital payment is needed. Prepaid parking can be bought online but allows no re-entry. The garage opens one hour before the aquarium and closes one hour after it, and overnight parking is not allowed.
The line that matters for vehicle choice is the height limit: a maximum of 6 ft 8 in at the Luckie Street entrances, on the ramp to all levels and at the Ivan Allen entrance. There is no oversized-vehicle parking. A sedan or a standard SUV clears it. Sprinter vans and coaches are taller than that, so we say so at booking and plan the stop differently.
If the garage is full, the aquarium lists the shared Coca-Cola lot as an overflow option, though prepaid parking is not valid there. The visitor guide also reminds drivers to note their level; signs by the elevators show an animal for each floor.
Where larger vehicles stop
For groups, the aquarium publishes a motorcoach and school-bus drop-off zone on Luckie Street near the main entrance. It also lists hourly motorcoach parking at the Georgia World Congress Center Marshalling Yard, which is limited. Group-sales motorcoaches pay a per-coach fee there.
The directions page does not describe a separate zone for limousines, taxis, rideshare or private cars. We therefore agree a drop-off with you in advance, based on the day's traffic, and message you the exact meeting point. A mini-coach or Sprinter drop at the Luckie Street zone is the usual approach for groups, with the vehicle then leaving the immediate blocks to wait.
Timed entry, dated tickets and shows
The aquarium's frequently asked questions state that guests are subject to timed ticketing and must enter during their designated arrival window. Entry closes 30 minutes before closing, and the aquarium is open 365 days a year. Tickets carry a date, and a change can be requested up to 24 hours before for a fee per ticket. Tickets are non-refundable.
Dolphin and sea lion presentations are included with general admission, but reservations are made on the day of your visit and are first come, first served. The visitor guide advises reserving early, because popular shows fill quickly, and Aqua Pass holders need a reservation every time.
The homepage lists a combination ticket with the World of Coca-Cola, with blackout dates, and other options such as a CityPASS. Check the official site for current offers. We do not quote ticket prices.
What you can bring
There are no lockers, and no coat or bag check, so everything you carry stays with you for the visit. That matters for guests arriving straight from the airport. Leave luggage with the chauffeur and bring only what you need.
Strollers are allowed but the aquarium suggests leaving them at home; the maximum is 29 in (72 cm) wide and 52 in (132 cm) long, and wagons and jogging strollers are not allowed. Outside food and drink are not permitted, with exceptions for small snacks for children or guests with allergies, and refillable bottles are encouraged. Cameras are allowed for personal use, flash is prohibited around some animals, and photographs are not allowed during sea lion and dolphin presentations.
What is inside, in an order that saves time
The visitor guide names the galleries: Aquanaut Adventure, Cold Water Quest, Dolphin Coast, Gator Crossing, Ocean Voyager, the shark gallery, Southern Company River Scout, Tropical Diver and Truist Sea Lion Studios. Animal encounters, including beluga, dolphin, sea lion, penguin, swim and dive experiences, are sold separately and need general admission tickets.
Because Ocean Voyager and Tropical Diver tend to be the busiest, the aquarium suggests starting with the shark gallery or the river exhibit. For a family with a show reservation, work backwards from the presentation time and let the chauffeur set the drop-off about 20 minutes before your entry window opens, so you are not standing at the door early, since the aquarium notes that arriving too soon or missing a slot may prevent entry.
The best day and hour
The aquarium says Monday to Thursday is typically less crowded, and that Saturdays and holidays are the peak. It also suggests early mornings or later evenings on busy days. Because entry is timed, the crowd is spread across the day, but galleries such as Ocean Voyager and Tropical Diver can still get congested, and the visitor guide suggests starting elsewhere.
Late 2026 brings Haunted Seas, a seasonal scavenger hunt and trick-or-treat activity, plus after-hours nights on October 16 and October 30 from 7 pm to 10 pm for guests aged 18 and over. The homepage also lists WinterTide and Glow Nights without dates in the material we read.
On days when major events take place in the nearby stadium district, the aquarium says to plan for increased vehicle and pedestrian traffic and strongly encourages guests to prepay for parking in advance when buying tickets. It points drivers to the 511 Georgia traffic system for real-time conditions. We build in extra margin on those days.
How long to allow
The aquarium says most guests spend two to four hours, and four to six hours if you plan to see presentations. For a chauffeured visit, set the pickup for four hours after your entry window, then call if you are running longer. We recommend a later fixed pickup than you expect, and a call from you when the last gallery is done.
A timed-entry day, hour by hour
- Airport pickup at Hartsfield-Jackson, with flight tracking, about 16 km (10 miles) from the aquarium.
- Hotel drop-off, or straight to the aquarium if your window is early.
- Aquarium visit inside the timed window, with a pickup agreed at the end.
- Lunch and a walk in the surrounding downtown blocks; the aquarium is next to other attractions that the combo ticket links to, including the World of Coca-Cola.
- Evening at a restaurant in Midtown or Buckhead, with the car called by message.
If you plan to head out of town, Savannah's historic district is a long but direct drive of about 400 km (250 miles), usually 3.5 to 4 hours. In the north, the Great Smoky Mountains National Park is a full day. See the attractions hub for others. Our private tours with driver page explains day bookings.
Wheelchairs, sensory rooms and low-sensory hours
The visitor guide says wheelchairs are available on a first-come, first-served basis and that ramps are provided. It also lists a sensory room, quiet zones, sensory bags from Guest Services, and a nursing and pumping pod on the second floor. The aquarium's accessibility page adds that accessible parking is on Level 3 of the parking deck, and that a limited number of first-floor spaces fit vehicles up to 8 ft 2 in tall. Wheelchairs are free on a first-come basis against a photo ID left at Guest Relations and cannot be reserved. The Wilkins Rhodes Sensory Room is on the second level, and low-sensory hours run each day until 10 am, with low lighting, minimal music and limited microphone use. For drop-off and entrances the page points to an accommodations request form, so submit it before your visit.

Tell us at booking if anyone needs a vehicle with easier step-in. A Luxury SUV is within the garage height limit, and we can request a drop at the nearest practical point to the entrance.
Rail, rideshare or chauffeur to the door
| Option | From ATL airport | Cost note | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| MARTA rail | 30 to 45 minutes plus a walk | Lowest | Light packers, solo travelers |
| Taxi or rideshare | 20 to 40 minutes | Metered or surge-priced | One-way hops on quiet days |
| Rental car | 20 to 40 minutes | Fuel plus the garage fee | Guests driving on to other cities |
| Hotel shuttle | Varies | Often included | Downtown hotel guests |
| Private chauffeur | 20 to 40 minutes | Fixed fare via the booker | Families, groups, tight timed windows, late flights |
The aquarium states that the walk from the nearest rail stations is about 10 to 15 minutes, and MARTA lists weekday rail service from 4:45 am to 1 am and weekend service from 6 am to 1 am. If you are staying downtown and traveling light, MARTA is often the lowest-cost choice and we say so. A car is a better answer when you land late, travel with children or need to reach the window on time.
Etiquette and a few reminders
Keep voices low near the larger exhibits, follow the staff's instructions at animal presentations and respect the rule on flash. Our drivers keep every trip private: no photographs of clients, no posts, and an alias on the name board whenever you ask.
