The Opry is not a sight you tick off. It is an evening, and the car is part of the evening. A show starts at 7 pm, parking opens at 5 pm, and the road back to the hotel at 10 pm is the same road everyone else is using. People who plan the music and forget the car tend to remember the car.

That is the case for a Grand Ole Opry private tour with driver. The chauffeur takes the arrival, the parking decision and the wait outside, and turns a crowd exit into a call-and-pickup. Below are the facts that decide how the evening works, taken from the Opry's own pages.

How do you get to the Grand Ole Opry by car?

The Opry House is at 600 Opry Mills Drive in Nashville, in the Opryland area northeast of downtown. From Nashville airport it is about 11 km (7 miles), typically 15 to 25 minutes. From downtown Broadway it is about 14 km (9 miles), 20 to 35 minutes depending on traffic.

The address is the one the Opry itself gives for navigation. The venue sits beside Opry Mills, and the parking instructions tell drivers to enter the Opry Mills area and look for Opry House Paid Parking signs.

Two venues, two addresses

The Opry does not always perform in the same building. The Opry House is its main home, and the Opry's site says it often returns for Opry at the Ryman shows. The Ryman Auditorium is at 116 Rep. John Lewis Way North, in downtown Nashville, about 14 km (9 miles) from the Opry House. The Opry's pages do not state which months the Ryman shows fall in, so check the ticket listing for the date you want before you book the car.

This matters for planning, because the two buildings have very different surroundings. The Opry House has its own parking area and sits near a large shopping and entertainment district. The Ryman is among downtown streets, and the Opry's pages publish no Ryman parking or drop-off instructions. We confirm the pickup point for a downtown show on the day.

Our Nashville chauffeur service page covers the city, and our airport hub lists the terminals we serve. For the long drive from the west, the Graceland guide covers the Memphis end.

The 5 pm parking rule

On its directions and parking page the Opry says parking can be pre-purchased online, is provided by Metropolis, and is available only for evening shows, starting at 5 pm. Passes are valid for one entry and one exit, and you scan the pass to leave, so keep it handy. A parking map PDF is available on the site.

If you arrive in a chauffeured car, none of this applies in the same way. Two arrangements work. The driver can drop you at the closest practical point and park elsewhere, returning when you call. Or, if you prefer to have the car waiting, we can book hourly waiting time and the driver stays with it. The first is better if you want to avoid a crowded exit lot, and the second suits a group with children or limited mobility.

The Opry's pages do not publish a rideshare or limousine zone. We agree the meeting point with you by message, usually a short walk from the doors where traffic is lighter.

What a two-hour show means for the clock

The Opry's FAQ page says every show runs about two hours with a 15-minute intermission, and each features six to eight artists. A 7 pm start therefore ends around 9 pm. The box office is open from 9 am to 5 pm, extended to 7:30 pm on show days, and the Opry Shop is open from 10 am to 5 pm, extended to 9:30 pm on show days.

For the pickup, we set the car to be ready from about 9 pm and ask you to message when you leave the building. Roads empty slowest right after the final song, which is why waiting until the crowd thins is worth considering. If you want to catch a late dinner, plan the reservation for 9:45 pm or later.

Tickets and the autumn schedule

Tickets are sold through the Opry's ticketing page, and each show lists its own packages. Upgrades are listed on a separate page. We do not quote prices. The official Opry site lists autumn dates, including Friday shows on October 16 and 23, Saturday shows on October 17 and 24 with two performances on October 17, and a Sunday show on October 18. A Tuesday show appears on October 20 and December 1, and a special Opry Country Classics show on Thursday, October 22.

Other dated items include Opry Goes Pink on October 27, an induction on December 1 and Opry NextStage Live on December 7. The site also lists Opry Country Christmas without dates, and a 2027 ticket presale sign-up. Because the schedule changes, treat these as what the site showed when we read it.

House rules for your evening

The FAQ is plain about the rules. There is no area to check coats or personal belongings. Outside food and beverages, including water, are not permitted in the Opry House at any time. Cameras are allowed in the form of digital, disposable or 35 mm models, though some events may prohibit cameras or flash. Video cameras, monopods, tripods, tablets and audio recording devices are not permitted.

The Opry has no formal dress code, which the FAQ phrases with some humor. Children under four get free admission but must sit with their guardian. Leave bags in the car with your driver where possible, and keep a jacket small, since you cannot check it.

Build in margin at the front of the evening as well as the back. Security and ticket scanning take time at any live venue, and the Opry Shop, open until 9:30 pm on show days, is easiest to visit before the lights go down or during the intermission rather than after the final song, when everyone heads for the exits together. Give the desk the time you want to be inside your seat rather than the time you want to arrive, and the driver can work backward from the right number.

Which night to choose

The Opry's schedule follows a pattern of Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday shows under the OPRY 100 banner, with the occasional special program on another day. Friday and Saturday nights are the ones most likely to be busy on the roads around Opry Mills and Briley Parkway. A Tuesday or Sunday show is often calmer for arrival and pickup, though the lineup matters more than the weekday for most fans.

The weekend of October 17 includes a doubleheader: a 7 pm and a 9:30 pm show on the same Saturday. If you hold a ticket for the later one, by the Opry's two-hour format that show finishes around 11:30 pm, so we plan the pickup for then and keep a driver on standby. Tell us at booking which performance you hold and we set the car to match.

Staying near the Opry or downtown

Guests choose between a hotel in the Opryland area and one downtown. The Opry's visitor pages carry lists of places to stay, eat and visit nearby, and a hotel in the area can make the evening easy on foot or by hotel shuttle. Downtown puts you among the Broadway bars and the Ryman, but adds a 20 to 35 minute drive each way on show nights.

If you plan to see a show and then go downtown for the late music, ask us to set a single booking with two legs: a drop at the Opry and a collection after the show that carries you straight to the next stop. This avoids queuing for a ride at the point of highest demand.

A daytime option: backstage tours

The Opry also sells tours of the venue. Its FAQ says backstage tours give a behind-the-scenes look at the building, with discounted tickets for children 12 and under and free entry for children 3 and under. Tour tickets are sold on the site's tours page, separate from show tickets. A tour is a good choice if your trip falls on a night when there is no show, or if you want a quieter look at the building without committing an evening.

A chauffeured Nashville evening

  1. Late afternoon pickup from your hotel, timed to reach the Opry area soon after parking opens.
  2. Early dinner nearby, before the doors.
  3. Drop-off near the doors, a safe margin before the 7 pm start.
  4. The show, about two hours with an intermission.
  5. Pickup by message after the crowd has begun to thin.
  6. A late supper or the return to the hotel. If you want a table after a late show, book it in advance and tell us the time, so the car is not waiting while the kitchen closes.

For a daytime add-on, the Nashville Convention & Visitors Corp's Music City site lists the visitor center at 501 Broadway and a calendar of events. From Nashville, onward trips include the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, roughly 350 km (220 miles) east, a long day by road. Our private tours with driver page explains day bookings, the North America directory lists neighboring cities, and the attractions hub has more.

Seating, entrances and what to ask in advance

The Opry has a dedicated accessibility page, linked from its visitor pages, and the pages we opened did not carry the details of accessible parking or entrances. Contact the Opry directly before the date, because policies on seating, assistance and entrances can differ by show, and tell us at booking if anyone needs step-free access. We can propose a Luxury SUV or First Class Sedan, subject to availability, and agree a drop-off point as close to the entrance as the venue allows.

If you are staying in the Opryland area, you may be able to walk or use a hotel shuttle, and in that case a car is not needed. The chauffeur earns the booking on the airport run, on the downtown-to-Opry crossing and on the post-show pickup.

Etiquette and a few reminders

The Opry is a live performance, so arrive before the start and settle quietly. Phones on silent, no recording, and no standing in the aisles, since other guests have paid for the same view you have. Guests at a concert often want discretion; our chauffeurs neither photograph clients nor post about trips, and an alias can go on the name board.
