Most Coachella transportation advice is written for people driving in from Los Angeles with a cooler in the trunk. This guide is for a different traveler: the guest arriving by private aircraft, the brand team moving talent between a rented estate and the polo field, the executive who flies in for one night of the weekend and out again the next morning. Their questions are specific. Which airfield is closest? Can a chauffeur actually get into the grounds? What happens at 1 a.m. when tens of thousands of people want a ride at once?
For the general overview, hotel bases and vehicle classes, start with our Coachella event page. Here we go into the private-aviation and late-night logistics in detail.
How does Coachella transportation work for private flyers?
Private flyers usually land at Jacqueline Cochran Regional (Thermal) or Palm Springs International, then take a pre-booked chauffeur to a desert rental or resort. On festival days the car uses the festival's licensed black-car drop-off with a valid pass, or the public pickup area at Madison Street and Avenue 52 without one.
The festival is held at the Empire Polo Club, 81-800 Avenue 51, Indio, and its official Getting Here page sets the rules every car follows. Those rules are revised each year, so treat the details below as the most recent published version and expect updates before the next edition.
When is Coachella, and when should transport be booked?
Coachella runs over two weekends in April. The official Coachella site listed the 2026 edition as April 10 to 12 and April 17 to 19; the 2027 dates had not been published when this guide was written. Book aircraft, handling and cars as soon as dates and passes are confirmed. The desert valley has a limited pool of chauffeured vehicles, and both weekends draw on the same supply.

Before you book, decide which weekend pattern you are planning:
- Full weekend with a rental home: one car on call for the stay, plus a group vehicle for friends or staff.
- Single day, fly in and out: an airport-to-festival-to-airport plan with a tight return window.
- Brand or hospitality program: several vehicles moving guests between a venue, hotels and the grounds on a timed schedule.
Which airport should a Coachella private jet use?
The choice is between two fields, plus Los Angeles for those who prefer a longer drive.

Jacqueline Cochran Regional Airport (TRM), Thermal. A public-use airport owned and operated by the County of Riverside, serving general aviation, pilot training and charter flights. The county's environmental filing for a new control tower places it in the lower Coachella Valley, about 33 miles southeast of Palm Springs, and notes that the FAA found it eligible for the Federal Control Tower Program, with construction expected in late 2026. For festival purposes its advantage is position: it sits roughly 10 km (6 miles) from the polo grounds, usually 15 to 25 minutes by car outside peak hours.
Palm Springs International (PSP). The valley's commercial airport, closest to the Palm Springs hotel district. Current airline, terminal and parking information is on flypsp.com, and a private aircraft's handler is confirmed by the operator. It is about 40 km (25 miles) from the polo grounds, normally 30 to 50 minutes, and closer to Palm Springs hotels.
Van Nuys or LAX, then drive. Some guests base in Los Angeles and commute. Van Nuys to Indio is about 225 km (140 miles) and LAX about 220 km (135 miles), typically 2.5 to 4 hours depending on Interstate 10. See our Van Nuys private aviation page and LAX guide.
| Arrival point | Distance to Empire Polo Club | Typical drive outside peaks | Who it suits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Jacqueline Cochran Regional (TRM), Thermal | About 10 km (6 mi) | 15 to 25 min | Private jets; guests staying in Indio, La Quinta or the east valley |
| Palm Springs International (PSP) | About 40 km (25 mi) | 30 to 50 min | Private and airline arrivals; Palm Springs and Rancho Mirage hotels |
| Van Nuys (VNY) | About 225 km (140 mi) | 2.5 to 4 h | Guests based in Los Angeles who prefer to commute |
| Los Angeles International (LAX) | About 220 km (135 mi) | 2.5 to 4 h | International airline arrivals |
Handling slots, ramp space and fuel at the valley airfields come under pressure on festival weekends, so the aircraft side is confirmed first. If you still need the aircraft, our private jet charter desk acts as your booking agent; flights are operated by licensed air carriers, such as FAA Part 135 operators, which hold operational control. Our guide to FBO car service and planeside pickups explains how the car meets the aircraft, and private jet car service covers what to send the desk: tail number, handler and estimated arrival.
Can a chauffeur drive into the festival grounds?
Not to the stage, but a properly permitted car gets closer than a rideshare. The festival's Getting Here page describes a pass system for licensed black car and limo services:

- A pass is required for limos, party buses, SUVs, unsanctioned shuttles and any vehicle making repeat pickups or drop-offs. Passes are for drivers serving pre-booked clients only, and soliciting rides on the grounds is prohibited.
- Drop-offs run Friday to Sunday, 12 p.m. to 10 p.m., at the designated black car and limo area.
- Staging for pickups is allowed until 11 p.m., after which inbound road closures are likely to cause delays.
- Without a pass, vehicles use the public pickup and drop-off area at Madison Street and Avenue 52.
- Pass pricing in 2026 ran from $3,500 for limos of ten seats or fewer to $5,000 for larger shuttles, paid by the operator.
That 11 p.m. staging cutoff is the detail most visitors miss. If you want a chauffeur waiting for you after the headliner, the car has to be inside the staging area before the roads close, and then it waits. Ask the desk at booking whether your assigned operator holds a current pass for your weekend, and how the late pickup will be staged.
How do late-night pickups actually work?
The festival's rideshare zone at Avenue 49 and Monroe Street (Lot 1D) runs Friday to Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 a.m., and the festival itself warns that the longest waits are typically between midnight and 2:30 a.m. A chauffeured car does not make the crowd disappear, but it changes your exit in three ways: the car is already staged, the driver is named and reachable, and you are not competing with surge pricing.
A sensible late plan:
- Agree the meeting point before you go in, with a screenshot of the instructions, because phone signal can be weak in a large crowd.
- Pick a leaving time, either 20 to 30 minutes before the last set ends or well after the first surge.
- Text the chauffeur when you start walking, so the car is ready to move the moment you arrive.
- Allow for the walk. Pedestrians are kept off Monroe Street between Avenue 49 and Avenue 52, and off Madison Street between Avenue 50 and Avenue 52, per the festival, so routes are fixed.

What makes a good Palm Springs car service for festival weekends?
A Palm Springs car service in April is a different job from a quiet weekday transfer. Look for three things.
Licensing you can check. In California, limousine and charter operators are regulated by the California Public Utilities Commission. The CPUC's consumer guidance tells riders to make sure the operator's TCP number is displayed on the vehicle, to verify it through the CPUC, and notes that prearrangement is required, unlike taxi service. Every operator we place is vetted, licensed and commercially insured.
Festival experience. A local operator who has run the weekend before knows the lot system, the staging times and the back roads that stay open.
Capacity for groups. Many festival parties are six to twelve people. A Luxury SUV carries up to six with bags, and an Executive Sprinter carries 12 to 14. Vehicle classes are on our fleet page.
| Group profile | Recommended setup | Why |
|---|---|---|
| 1 to 3 guests, single day | Executive or First Class Sedan, airport and festival legs | Simple, quick to stage |
| 4 to 6 guests, full weekend | Luxury SUV on call for the stay | Room for bags, layers and a cooler of water |
| 8 to 14 guests or staff | Executive Sprinter plus a sedan for the host | Group stays together; host keeps flexibility |
| Brand activation or hospitality | Several vehicles with a desk coordinator | Timed guest movements, one contact |
Desert conditions and the car
April in the valley can be very hot by afternoon and cool after dark, with dust and wind on the polo fields. Keep a bag in the car with water, sunscreen, a light layer and clean shoes. Chauffeurs keep the cabin cool for the return. Alcohol is never promised on board, since local law applies, which is one more reason to let someone else drive at 1 a.m.
Discretion for artists, brands and principals
The weekend has become a hospitality platform for brands, agencies and artists, and many guests value privacy. Chauffeurs do not photograph clients or post about trips, NDAs are signed on request, and alias bookings are available. We are a chauffeur service, not a security company, and we coordinate with a client's own protection team. See VIP and celebrity chauffeur, our guide to private aviation for music tours, and the event transportation page for multi-vehicle programs.
Booking terms and next steps
Book through the online booker, or call the desk on (877) 860-3388 for multi-car programs. Frequently asked questions
What is the closest airport to Coachella for a private jet?
Jacqueline Cochran Regional Airport (TRM) in Thermal is the closest, roughly 10 km (6 miles) from the Empire Polo Club, usually 15 to 25 minutes by car outside peak hours. Palm Springs International is about 40 km (25 miles) away and suits guests staying in Palm Springs.
Can a limo drop me inside Coachella?
Only at the designated black car and limo area, and only if the operator holds a festival pass. Drop-offs run Friday to Sunday from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. Cars without a pass use the public area at Madison Street and Avenue 52.
How late can my chauffeur pick me up after the last set?
The pickup can happen after midnight, but the festival allows pickup staging only until 11 p.m., after which road closures cause delays. Your chauffeur therefore enters the staging area before 11 p.m. and waits there for you, so agree the meeting point and your leaving time in advance.
Is a chauffeur better than rideshare at Coachella?
The festival's rideshare lot runs until 3 a.m., with the longest waits typically between midnight and 2:30 a.m. A pre-booked chauffeur is already staged, named and reachable, with a fixed fare instead of surge pricing, which matters most for groups and late exits.
How do I check that a Palm Springs car service is licensed?
The California Public Utilities Commission advises checking that the operator's TCP number is displayed on the vehicle and verifying it through the CPUC's online carrier portal. Prearrangement is required for limousine service, unlike taxis, so always book in advance and keep the confirmation handy.
Should I fly into LAX and drive to Coachella?
It works if you are already in Los Angeles or need international airline connections. The drive is about 220 km (135 miles) and typically 2.5 to 4 hours, depending on Interstate 10. Private flyers save most of that by landing at Thermal or Palm Springs instead.
