A Super Bowl private jet trip is one of the most demanding bookings in American business aviation. Hundreds of aircraft converge on one metro area for a long weekend, and the FAA responds with special procedures that change how you file, where you land and when you can leave. The next game, Super Bowl LXI, is at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California; the stadium lists it for Sunday, February 14, 2027, with kickoff time to be announced.

The FAA has not yet published its plan for LXI, so this guide uses the most recent published one, for Super Bowl LX in the San Francisco Bay Area in February 2026, as the worked example. The pattern repeats year to year: a reservation program for airports, a game-day flight restriction, and heavy demand for ramp space. Then we cover the part fans underestimate: getting from the FBO to the stadium and back.

How does flying private to the Super Bowl work?

For the Super Bowl, the FAA runs a Special Event Reservation (PPR) program at host-area airports. Operators must hold a reservation for arrivals and departures, including drop-and-go flights, usually obtained through the FBO. Parking is booked separately, a game-day flight restriction applies around the stadium, and departures after the game bunch heavily.

In the published notice for Super Bowl LX, the FAA set special air traffic procedures from February 4 to February 10, 2026, and a Special Event Reservation Prior Permission Required (PPR) Program for arrivals and departures at 17 Bay Area airports, from San Francisco International to Half Moon Bay. Law enforcement and public safety flights were exempt, as were regularly scheduled air carriers and air taxi operations.

The notice was direct about what happens without a reservation: operators should "expect significant delays" with the possibility of denial of service. It also told operators to get reservations by following each airport's NOTAM and contacting their preferred FBO or the airport authority.

As your booking agent, LimousineWorldwideDirectory.com sources the aircraft from licensed operators, such as FAA Part 135 charter carriers, and the operator, who holds operational control, secures the reservation and parking through the FBO. We do not own or operate aircraft.

Super Bowl private jet parking: why it sells out first

The reservation lets you land. It does not guarantee a place to park. The LX notice told all operators to contact their FBO before departure "to ensure availability for both overnight parking and passenger pickup/drop-off", and warned that many other airports within 60 nautical miles of San Jose expected a substantial increase in operations, with parking at surrounding airports possibly unavailable.

That gives you three practical options for Super Bowl private jet parking:

  • Park at the arrival airport. Simplest for passengers, hardest to secure. FBOs fill early, and event-week terms vary from one FBO to the next.
  • Drop and go. The aircraft lands, you step into the car, and the jet repositions to a less crowded airport. It still needs a reservation, which the LX program explicitly covered.
  • Arrive early or leave late. Landing on Thursday or Friday, or departing on Tuesday, avoids the tightest windows.

Our explainer on what an FBO is covers the services involved, and the FBO car service guide explains where cars can meet aircraft and where they cannot.

What is the game-day TFR and who does it affect?

On the FAA's Super Bowl LX safety plan page, pilots were told to anticipate a Temporary Flight Restriction in the Bay Area on Sunday, February 8, 2026. The FAA notes that TFRs typically limit glider operations, flight training and drone operations, and that TFR details are published by FDC NOTAM normally three to five days before the event.

For a charter passenger, the TFR mostly matters indirectly: it affects timing near the stadium on game day and can bunch traffic before and after. Your operator files around it. For you, the takeaway is to avoid planning an arrival in the hours just before kickoff at an airport close to the venue.

The LX notice also set rules that shape the departure rush. Flight plans should be filed at least four hours before departure, no airborne IFR filings or changes of destination were accepted within 200 nautical miles of the Bay Area except in emergencies, and pilots were told to expect holding, reroutes or Expect Departure Clearance Times. A post-game departure is a queue, not a dash to the runway.

Where will private jets land for Super Bowl LXI in Los Angeles?

The FAA will name the airports in its LXI notice. Expect the Los Angeles-area version of the Bay Area list, with business aviation spread across several airports. Two points are already clear.

LAX is close to the stadium. The American Institute of Architects describes the SoFi Stadium site as sitting in the flight path of Los Angeles International Airport, just three miles away. That short distance is the appeal; the drive can still take far longer than three miles suggests on game day. Our LAX chauffeur page covers meeting points there.

Van Nuys is the classic private jet airport for Los Angeles. It is much farther from Inglewood, a cross-town drive, but it has deep FBO capacity and suits travelers staying in Beverly Hills, Bel Air or the valley. See our Van Nuys private aviation page.

Where you land should follow where you sleep. If your hotel is near the beach cities, an airport close to the stadium makes sense. If you are staying in the hills or the valley, landing near your hotel and driving to the game once may be easier than crossing the city twice.

Game-day cars: how Super Bowl transportation is staged

Super Bowl transportation on the ground is where well-planned trips still go wrong. Every limo, black car and rideshare in the region is in demand, and roads around the stadium are controlled on game day.

A professional operator handles it in layers:

  1. Stadium parking or a staging plan. SoFi Stadium's event page says parking can be purchased in advance and asks guests to arrive early. A chauffeured car either holds a pre-purchased pass or works from an agreed drop-off point and nearby staging area.
  2. A fixed post-game pickup point. Phones are unreliable in a stadium crowd. The driver and passenger agree on an exact spot and a fallback before kickoff.
  3. Hourly booking, not transfers. With pre-game events, the game and parties after, an hourly chauffeur holds the car for the whole day. A one-way ride is almost impossible to get when the stadium empties.
  4. Groups in one vehicle. Corporate hosts often move clients in a Sprinter van with driver so the group arrives and leaves together.

In California, commercial chauffeured operators carry passenger-carrier authority from the state. The California Public Utilities Commission's Transportation Licensing and Analysis Branch grants operating authority to passenger carriers, including Charter-Party Carrier (TCP) permits for charter operators. Every car we dispatch in Los Angeles comes from a licensed, commercially insured operator in our North America directory.

Planning the week: a sample itinerary

The game is one night. The trip is often four or five days. Here is how a typical hospitality group works it:

  • Booking stage, as early as possible: confirm the aircraft, the arrival airport and parking. Book the ground program at the same time, because chauffeur fleets in the host city fill well ahead.
  • Thursday or Friday arrival: the car meets the aircraft at the FBO, tracking the tail number. Under our ground policy, free waiting is 30 minutes after domestic landings and 60 minutes after international ones.
  • Friday and Saturday: sponsor events and dinners. A corporate car service account keeps billing for multiple guests on one invoice.
  • Sunday: an hourly car or van from late morning, with the stadium plan agreed in advance.
  • Monday or Tuesday departure: leave slack for the FBO queue and the reservation window.

For high-profile guests, add a VIP chauffeur briefed on privacy and coordinated with any security team. Our Los Angeles chauffeur guide covers hourly hire across the city outside game day.

Ground cancellations follow our standard terms: more than 72 hours before pickup free; inside 72 hours 10%; inside 48 hours 50%; inside 24 hours or a no-show 100%. In Super Bowl week, those windows matter, so confirm guest counts early.

When flying private to the Super Bowl is not worth it

Be honest about the math. If you live near a large hub with nonstop airline service to the host city, and you are traveling alone or as a couple, first class plus a good car may cost far less and lose little time, as long as you avoid the post-game airline rush. Private makes the most sense for groups that fill the cabin, for travelers from cities without good nonstops, and for anyone who needs to leave right after the game. Our comparison of private jet vs first class walks through that door-to-door calculation.

If tickets come late and you need a jet at short notice, read our guide to last-minute private jet charter. During Super Bowl week, short notice limits both aircraft and parking options.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a reservation to fly a private jet to the Super Bowl?

In recent years, yes. For Super Bowl LX the FAA ran a Special Event Reservation (PPR) program at 17 Bay Area airports, covering arrivals, departures and drop-and-go flights. Reservations were obtained by following each airport's NOTAM and working through the FBO or airport authority. Your charter operator handles this, but book early so the slot exists.

Where do private jets park for the Super Bowl?

At FBOs in the host area, if space can be secured, or at nearby airports after dropping passengers. The FAA's LX notice told operators to confirm overnight parking with the FBO before departure and warned that parking at surrounding airports might be unavailable. Many operators plan a drop-and-go with a reposition to keep the trip on schedule.

How far is SoFi Stadium from LAX?

The American Institute of Architects describes the SoFi Stadium site as sitting in LAX's flight path, about three miles away. On game day, traffic controls and crowds make the drive much slower than that distance suggests, so plan the car on an hourly basis and agree a fixed pickup point. Book an airport car service pickup with flight tracking.

When is Super Bowl LXI?

SoFi Stadium's event page lists Super Bowl LXI for Sunday, February 14, 2027, with time to be announced. The NFL selected SoFi Stadium in Inglewood as the venue, making it the second Super Bowl at that stadium. Watch for the FAA's LXI notice, which sets the dates of the reservation program and flight restrictions.

Can my chauffeur drop me at the stadium entrance?

Usually not at the gate itself. Game-day traffic plans limit where vehicles can stop, and parking must be bought in advance. A professional chauffeur works from a designated drop-off area or a pre-purchased parking pass, then stages nearby and meets you at an agreed point after the game. That plan is fixed before kickoff.

Is it cheaper to book a car by the hour on Super Bowl Sunday?

Usually it is more reliable, and often similar in cost once you count the wait. After the final whistle, one-way rides are scarce and slow to arrive. Holding a car by the hour means the vehicle and driver are yours from the pre-game events to the hotel, which matters more than the meter in one of the busiest nights of the year.
